I’ve battled the weight war my entire life. I started Weight Watchers at age 8, with my mom paying me a dollar for each pound I lost. I watched both of my parents fight the same fight, until my mom had gastric bypass surgery in 1993. It was the greatest thing she’s ever done.

In 2000, I was weighing in at 287 and finally decided to take matters into my own hands. I began seeing a nutritionist in NYC and lost about 90 pounds in just over a year. I was ecstatic. I learned invaluable information about nutrition and choices. Unfortunately, by 2004 I was back up to 255 and decided to undergo gastric bypass surgery myself. It was a wonderful (though expensive) decision which I have never regretted.

I now fight the same pesky 10-20 pounds. Much more manageable then 100, but annoying nonetheless. My goal is to be HEALTHY, rather than SKINNY and focus on good choices and exercise (which never seems to happen)!

Here’s to those who’ve fought the fight life long!!

Breakfast ideas
I'm a big fan of string cheese and lunch meat. I know it sounds weird, but super easy to eat on the go and really fast. I usually have 4 pieces of ham, and roll each piece around a "string" of the cheese. It's yummy.

Help!
Too embarrassed to go to a Weight Watchers meeting? Have you ever BEEN to a WW meeting? Lol….hunny, you have NOTHING to be ashamed of. Only if you recognize a problem and take no action. The fact that you care enough to do something about it, is more than enough to be proud of! I weighed 287 at 21 years old, so I feel your pain. But you can do it – I promise. Just focus yourself and take control. It’s all about knowing that this is the one thing in your life that you have total control of. It’s actually quite empowering. Also – you need to look at the small picture. Every 5 pounds is a victory. One day at a time – or even one meal at a time, just put your mind to it and you can accomplish anything.
