Doing well, today. Close to the end of the day and I still have 3.5 points to spare. 2 of which I will lose if I do not use them today as I went walking for about 40 minutes today.

I find that I will often just decide not to eat anything because it's too much of a struggle to figure the point values. But, then I get so hungry, I finally quickly find something decent (garlic & herb roasted chicken breast with raw sugar snap peas). I went grocery shopping and bought some WW desserts (mint chocolate chip & cookie dough sundae). They are really very good. Don't taste diet-y at all! Small, but they are truly enough to satisfy.

I've never gone this long on a diet and still enjoyed it. It's really because I don't feel deprived at all. I know I sound like the commercial, but I really do enjoy this because I can eat whatever I want, I just have to watch how much. I tend to naturally draw myself to the healthier foods because they are less points and mean I can have more.

I'm going to adjust my weigh-in day to Mondays. The weight I recorded was Wednesday's weigh-in, so I may not see a big decrease here. but I do feel better, and that is nice.

Now, I really need to work on my water consumption. I'm drinking hardly any.

So I'm doing Weight Watchers with a few coworkers. Much cheaper (no need for meetings because my boss has been to enough that he is probably qualified to be a meeting leader himself - and all the coworkers together are the support system/accountability I need) and no need to sign up for the online club since I can find both my recommended points values online based on my weight and I built the points calculator into a spreadsheet and use that to track my points for the day/week.

I'm on 22 points per day and even though I know it's essentially counting calories, it's so much more interesting/easier. I have been counting calories for SO LONG. It's just a new, more fun way to do it. Plus, I really like the idea of the flex points.

Anyway, this was sparked first by our boss's idea to have the department get together and be our own club. You'd think coming from the only man in the department that it might come off as offensive, but it didn't at all. He's great like that. The event that really kicked me in the pants to actually start doing it came this past Monday when my back completely locked up on me. Being only 31 and having been moderately overweight for the past 5 years when i was previously at a normal weight, then suddenly having massive pain in my back that my weight (and unhealthy eating) more-than likely LARGELY contributed to...really opened my eyes.

I also recently quit smoking (for the...12th time, maybe?) about 1.5 months ago. I've been able to gain very little weight as a result of that. About 3 lbs, so I'd like to stop that and reverse the direction of my weight on the scale.

I've got a gym membership and if I can get some time in tomorrow, I'll be able to add some points for the day. That will be ideal as I'm also going grocery shopping and my Flex points have been used for the week (my weeks go Monday - Sunday). The intention of having my week begin on Monday is to hopefully keep me accountable on the weekends. If it ends up sabotaging my progress, I will shift the start of my week to Sunday to keep me from giving up altogether due to feeling discouraged.

Well,I suppose I've written enough for my first entry. Good luck to all!
