05 January 2013

Yesterday's seafood boil was a smashing success. My wife is hollering at me saying I was "anxious". The last few minutes when you dump crab and shrimp in the pot has to go like clockwork so as to not overcook the seafood! I may have been "b*tchy" and that is ok.

My buddy came over and we had a few beers and I fed him since he is in a hotel until he gets situated. So he reciprocated by taking me to the pub for a few more beers. I had some chips when I came home, and maybe a piece of chicken or three. Hey, its better than ordering McD's or KFC! Anyway, I was in bed by 10 for todays bike ride.

Met partner who has been a no show so much lately, and we did 23 miles or so. I will be fighting hunger today for sure, but I have some healthy options planned. Veggie Flatbread Pizzas for lunch, and Chicken Dinner. Should work out OK.

Wife is skipping all her exercise classes today, thats not my problem, and I dare not discuss that. Funny how we have to work our own programs.

Anyway, just checking in.

**EDIT** Added Kitty Pics!

Nice weigh in today, and I feel good. Like I am back to normal. I also got on my "fancy" scale and used the "fancy" parts that measures weight/fat/whatever. Here be the stats.

Weight 214.0
BMI - 33
Fat - 30.7%
Muscle - 32.4%
RM 1960 (Resting Metabolism)
Age - 66!
VFat - 17 (Visceral Fat)

WINNING! These are the exact same stats I had 38 days ago! Plus, like I already knew in my heart of hearts, I AM ALL MUSCLE! XD

I wish I has used and logged this scale back at the beginning of my journey (When I bought it). I did, I just did not write that junk down. And it lost my info except for that 38 days ago deal.

Anyhoo, rode my bike this AM. Partner texted me at 4AM and said he had to work and could not make it. Who the ____ texts people at 4AM to say they have to work and cant go bike riding? Thanks for that pal! I will be sure to return the favor. I did not ride long, as it is very cold and most importantly windy. 20-30 mph winds today.

Had a breakfast with lots of veggies, eggs, bread and about an oz of cheese. Took wife to market and got more veggies, and fresh stuff.

Having a seafood boil for dinner with Daughter and Wifey.
May invite Buddy over for beer and seafood fest. It will be low key, I am pretty tired of the party scene from the holidays. We have fresh shrimp, crab, and the other stuff to make a seafood boil. Not incredibly bad for you.

Anyway, talk to ya'll later!

Up some from last week. Its from bobs party time lounge for sure! Oh heck, it was all fun and games until someone gained 10 lbs.

Like in some of my ramblings from over the holidays, my legs are really strong now from lots of riding. So I will just get back on my routine of riding, healthy eating, sticking to RDI's as best I can, and cheat day Friday. With the possible exception of tomorrow as enough cheating happened Mon/Tues for sure. I dunno, in a way I just want to get back on schedule asap even if that does mean cheating tomorrow.

I am kind of proud of myself for riding through some wicked hangover mornings. A few of them I had my partner I ride with on weekends to thank, and a few of them he was missing on when I was really proud. Tomorrow is long ride, 25 mile minimum. I like to shoot for 2 hours out there on Fridays. I have rested the legs since Monday, so I should be good to go.

My smart phone is ready, so I have to go get it here in a bit. I have been without it since Christmas. Took me a few days to carry it in, and then 4 business days to repair. It just flashed on me and died while sending a text, should be covered under warranty. That inhibited some logging, although I log very poorly when not at work anyway. I spent a lot less time on computers when not here, since that is sort of my job.

Thursdays is Mongolian BBQ day here on base. It is the best food we get a crack at all week. I try to pile up lots of veggies, limit the meat and eat a few of my noodles. Its probably 900-1000 cals easy though. And salty! Besides being anti social and going home, that is the best I can do. I see some fitness type sailors and marines getting it without carbs. I dont have that kind of will power, lol.

Oh, happy announcement. We got a new kitty over the holidays named "Spooky". She is about 7 weeks old, a bundle of energy, and has VERY sharp claws and teeth! I will post pictures when I get my phone back. She is almost all black to match our other house panther. We got her from a family who could not keep her, and she is working out great so far.

02 January 2013

Wild and loopy past couple of days, not good for weight loss. I did ride on New Years Eve, had some beers with friends.

We had a bunch of crazy foods on New Years Eve of course, and we had a cookout and more crazy foods yesterdays (Chips, Soda, Candy).

I feel like a broken record, but it is time for a refocusing. With the New Year I will get back on the bandwagon. I have a friend who just moved back so it will help me socially in some ways, but probably not good for the old diet. He is laid back though, just spends more time in bars/pubs. I dont really care for that scene.

Anyway, I am glad the holidays are behind us now, and my routine can be normal without parties and banquets popping up.

Hopefully my riding can continue and I can shed this winter weight without problem.

/Cheers, JP
