I was a slim child and a slim teenager. In my 30s I gained weight. I didn't want to be fat and forty but I was. I lost about a stone by photodieting - photographing everything I ate to make myself aware of when and what I ate. Then various distractions stopped me carrying on (isn't there always some excuse?). Now I'm in my 50s and living in a new country, starting a new life. It's time to do something about it or give in to being fat for the rest of my life.
I've chosen the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet because I like meat, too many carbs make me feel slothful and because I like to cook. This diet is high protein, a kind of healthy-Atkins. I'm looking forward to eating lots of healthy food and feeling good. I need to get motivated for the exercise bit though. It is winter here in the southern hemisphere and I have a tendency to hibernate.
