I have struggled with weight my entire life. I have bad knees and a bad shoulder, so exercising is nearly impossible. I began losing weight recently due to a health problem, which has given me mixed feelings. I'm glad I'm losing weight, but not happy about having another health issue.

using a power cooker (pressure cooker)
If your pressure cooker is big enough, you can put a small stand or rack in it so the fat drains down below the food. I have used one of those collapsible steamers for that. The only thing a pressure cooker does differently than a normal large pot is raise the boiling point of water (including the water in the food itself) so you can cook at a higher temperature. You won't be limited to 212 degrees F (100 C). That makes food cook faster and helps break down the connective tissue in meat so it's more tender. A strainer or other kind of rack inside the cooker won't interfere with that, so feel free to experiment.

Quick and easy food suggestions
On days like that, I like to set up a meal in my crock pot so food is ready for me when I get home. Minestrone is a good one for that.

How fast is too fast?
I talked to my doctor this week and he agrees the loss is fast, but supports my 1000 calories per day as long as I continue taking vitamin supplements and keep hydrated. He ordered blood tests and all my numbers are normal. He said the weight loss should begin to slow as I get close to my goal. That hasn't happened yet, but I have a long way to go.

How fast is too fast?
I guess this isn't the helpful community I was hoping for. My weight seems to have stabilized anyway, so I guess I'll just use the site to record my numbers.

How fast is too fast?
I had my first Diverticulitis attack about a month ago. It was very painful and I had to go on a liquid diet for a week. I began to lose weight very quickly. I figured I would level off once I returned to solid food, but my appetite never fully returned and I continued to lose weight without actively trying. I decided to start tracking my calorie intake to figure out what was going on found this site. It turns out I'm only averaging about 1200 calories a day. That's very low, but that's all the appetite I have. I have lost 40 pounds (about 18 kg) in just over a month and continue to lose about a pound a day (half a kilo). I started at 345 pounds (156 kg), so I needed to lose weight anyway, but isn't a pound a day dangerously fast? Is there any health risk I should be worried about? I know I need to stay hydrated to prevent kidney stones and other trouble, but is there anything else I need to worry about?
