I am 54 years old and at my heaviest weight ever. Never thought I would top the 300 mark. 6 years ago, I lost my 27 y/o son to the numerous rare diseases he fought since birth. When he died, I lost my identity. All I knew was to be Galen's Mom. It has destroyed me and my weight has just piled on. About 100 lbs in that time. It was already climbing the last 9 years of his life after a major health problem caused him to become a quadriplegic. So for 15 years depression and stress have really taken it's toll. Now I have to fight my way back. I will be 55 in August, and would like to be less than 250 by then. That is a sad goal to have, but it is a step in the right direction.

Need a Buddy
I would be glad to be your buddy also. Been doing induction phase for almost 4 weeks now. Gonna stay on phase one for as long as I can. Have you read the Atkins book? It really helps! Best of luck!

baby carrots
How does the sugar content in carrots work in your diets? Never seen a diet that allowed carrots. It is too bad, that is one of the few veggies I do like!

Veggie "Hater" desperatly seeking reform!!!
I hate veggies too. But my problem is a little different. I can't stomach the smell of strong vegetables. Also I am allergic to nickel, which is in all the strong smelling veggies. Broccolli, culiflower, squash, ONIONS! Can't stomach it at all. Makes dieting very boring when I am limited to lettuce and tomatoes. Dr told me "nickel free diet" Good by me! Another note, spinach...I have a way for non spinach eaters to love it. Canned spinach, drained heat in a non stick skillet. When hot, pour a scrambled egg mixture over and gently stir until set. I have served this to lots of people, call it green eggs...and no one has ever not eaten it. My kids love it and requested it all the time growing up! Try it!
