General Help with the App!
Ok so i have figured out why I thought the macro calculations were off. The app is correct, it was my math that was wrong. I thought the percentages were the percentage of total macros. The calculation is actually a percentage of total calories that the macro represents.

We all know that Carbs and Proteins are 4kcal/gram but Fats are 9 kcal/gram and so I wasn't factoring in that fats were higher in calories per gram. When doing a conversion of total grams per macro times the # kcal / gram then numbers do account correctly. It's a little confusion but does work.

General Help with the App!
Ok so after posting this I quickly figured out how to find friends as well as change my avatar image by using the web application. I would still like to know if either of these is available thru the iOS application. If not, it's not a big deal. My BIGGEST concern is the question about macro calculations. Smile

General Help with the App!

I've searched google and the fatsecret forums but can't really find any help here. I mainly use the app but just started 3 days ago. Can someone please help me with the following issues? I'm on the most recent fatsecret app version for iOS.

1) How do i find friends who are on this app? I want to follow them but I don't see any way to find them thru the iOS application, though you can do it thru the web application.

2) How do I change my avatar picture? Currently it just shows a generic fruit/veggie. I can't figure out how to do this thru the iOS application, though you can do it thru the web application.

3) I think the macro calculations are way off. I've noticed that every day the report/chart is showing my fat at over 50% of my macros. I've put the numbers thru a calculator and they are definitely not over 50% of my diet. Based on what I'm seeing, this is very confusing to figure out how i'm doing or how to adjust to meet my goals.

For example, today I've eaten 80g F, 52g C, 105g P and Fat Secret says my Fat is at 53%, Carbs 16%, and Protein 31%. This is not what I calculate. A simple calculation shows Fat should be 80/237 = 34%, not 53%.

Are they wrong or am I misunderstanding how it works?
