Hi my name is kay and I am married and have two grown children who live outside my home. I am trying to lose 56lbs. I use to be thin a few years back(even had trouble gaining weight) and then did some yo yo dieting and just seemed to keep gaining more and more weight and now here I am way too fat. I've decided to try the South Beach Diet although the GI diet sounded good too. I just want something I can live with for life. I am an emotional eater.....I eat when I'm happy, sad, upset, or it really doesn't matter I just eat! I have recently had a knee replacement and it just seems like I have aches and pains all over all the time. I don't want to hurt all the time for the rest of my life so I feel I need to lose the weight so I can feel fit and healthy again. I'm also trying to lower cholesterol, triglyderides and blood pressure. Right now I eat way too much junk food or whatever is convenient. I am also a late afternoon snacker, too. I do great all day at work and then when I get home and walk in my door I just seem to lose it and eat everything in site before I even realize what I am doing. I need to work on that, along with many other things. Anyway that's what I'm all about and why I'm here. I need to lose the weight and I know I will need support and help doing it. I'm trying to work on my will power, too!

You on a Diet buddy search
Hi I saw the You on a Diet show and was really drawn to it so I bought the book, too. I have been following the South Beach Diet right now, though. I'm really impressed with the You diet and I did go out and buy all the supplements Dr Oz recommeded to take but I haven't switched to the diet just yet, not totally finished reading the book. You might check around on the other boards because I did see some other people starting it, too. It looks really looks like a healthy diet to follow and I want to wish you good luck on it! kaylessSmile

ideas for breakfast???
I'm looking for new ideas too and I like the low carb drink idea! Read where South Beach is coming out with a new Carb control shake and I can't wait. But in the mean time I bought some Myoplex Carb Sense Shakes(they're high protien and low carb. I need quick ideas to get out the door fast in the morning and at lunch time. Hope this helps! Kayless

Thanks!
Thanks to those of you who have given me the encouragement I needed!Sometimes just one hang in there is all I need to knock some sense in me!....lol I'm feeling better about the South Beach and I just bought the new South Beach Heart Program book. I've had some health problems due to my weight and I want to get that straightened out! I was going to buy the South Beach Cookbook but I thought I'd save that for another time. Also found some frozen entrees that are more convenient for me when I can't cook. Saw where South Beach is working on a new South Beach shake that will be on the market soon and I love that idea, too. I got rid of all the chocolate in my house except the sugar free fudgcicles(see I do take your advice) I also read where somone uses sugar free diet hot chocolate in their coffee and I plan on trying that, too. My fridge is stocked up with South Beach friendly foods now so I plan to succeed! KaylessVery Happy
