I don't know what it's like to eat normally or be a normal weight. For as long as I can remember, even way back into my childhood, I ate to excess, didn't eat enough, didn't eat at all, or ate and then threw it back up.

My cycle of disordered eating and self-destructive behavior came to a head when I found myself standing on the scale at a bariatric surgery consult. 299. I had promised myself many years prior to that when I saw the number 199 starting back at me, that I would never let myself get above that number. 100 more extra pounds was not okay. I decided against surgery -- I just couldn't bring myself to surgically alter my organs that way -- and instead, for the first time in my life, turned to food to heal myself. I had used and abused food for so long to hurt me, but I know that it has the power to do just the opposite.

I've dropped almost 30 pounds by "eating better" and getting to the bottom of some of the motives behind my disordered eating habits, but I'm ready to kick it into high-gear and really transform my body and my life.

I'm looking forward to taking this journey with every single person in this community who knows what it's like to feel powerless in your own body, but who wants so much better for themselves, and are facing their demons head-on! WE'VE GOT THIS!!!
