Woot! Another 2 pounds lost past even my pre-Memorial Day weight! Loving it!
I definitely have cheated a little for the past week or so, though apparently not enough cheating to prevent the weight loss. But still, a spoonful of ice cream here, a glass of wine there, and I can't say I followed the Cruise phase very well at all this week. But I just restocked the kitchen with healthy proteins (fat free cottage cheese and yogurt, eggs, sardines, swordfish, salmon, shrimp, tuna, crab, clams, lean ground turkey, and a whole freaking free range chicken from the Amish stall at the farmer's market). I think I'm set for the next week :) I even made sure to get my husband the food he needs to keep his weight up too.
Our main cooking ingredients were running very low this week, probably causing most of my "I'm hungry but have no easy protein snacks" carb tendencies.
Back on the wagon now :)

losing 1.8 lb a week

Woohoo! 10lbs lost so far!!!! Even though I cheated a little bit yesterday (added some dark chocolate to my oat bran, had a tablespoon of ice cream), the pounds I'd been holding on to for a couple days finally came off! Which marks 10lbs from my starting point, and about 5-6 lbs from when I 'officially' started the dukan diet one week ago.
That also means I'm only 5lbs away from my goal for June 22, when I go on vacation. I think I can lose more than 5 lbs in the next month, so I'm excited to see what I can actually reach in that time frame. Once I hit 145, I will no longer be "overweight" according to my BMI, so I'm hoping to get as close to there as possible (maybe 150?) by vacation.
Oh man I can't even explain how excited I am to see those 10lbs gone! I wish I knew how to make my ticker reflect my true starting weight - it got lost when I switched diets. But it doesn't really matter because I know I was hovering at 170 for months and months despite dramatically increasing my exercise levels earlier this year. I'm glad to see my persistant efforts finally paying off!!
This weekend will be a test, though. I'll be visiting my family for the weekend, and my typical day with them looks like this: 1) sleep late 2) sit by the lake and drink 3) eat delicious food 4) build a fire by the lake at night and drink some more.
I haven't had any alcohol in over a week and a half, which I think accounts for a lot of my weight loss - beer packs a punch of calories. But having a beer by the lake is just what we
do
on holiday weekends.
Oh well. I won't have too much trouble keeping up with strict food aspects of Dukan, because my mom is on a similar diet - low/no carb. She has lost 20lbs since September doing this! I told her about Gary Taubes' work and she went on a temporary 2 week test of no-carb, and lost 5 lbs. So she stuck with it (allowing for once in a while splurges) and has done awesomely well. She lost 2 pants sizes so far (16 to 12) and that is super awesome - I can't remember the last time her weight went down.
Hmm yeah, super long rambling post, but if you can't tell, I'M SUPER EXCITED!!!! :) :)

Blogs that I follow: STOP POSTING PICTURES OF DELICIOUS ICE CREAM!! I don't follow a single cooking blog (closest is the Kitchn), yet 4 blogs shared a total of 9 photos of yummy ice cream today! not cool... how am I supposed to stay motivated when all I see are sugary treats?

So yesterday was a rough day, I wasn't feeling satisfied and my head was killing me. Today is a little better, though I did have a craving for some carbs when my husband was eating ruffle potato chips. But the weight is really coming off, so I feel motivated still.
I ended up cheating a tiny bit today - I had a few sips of beer at lunch - but it didn't really suck me into drinking the whole thing, which is awesome. When we've gone for walks and then stopped for wings/beer before, I'd down the first one quickly and immediately have the urge for a second. But I guess I wasn't really craving it this time - hooray!
