I saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. No surgery needed :)
Yay!
I am off work without pay this week.
The doc has my arm immobilized for a week and work won't let me come in.
Recovery is expected to be 4 to 6 weeks.
That bothers me as I want to get my exercise in....
The good news is better than the bad :P
My bruise on my hip IS epic, looks a lot more nasty than it is!

I had planned on riding another 50 miles today, it didn't work out that way.
At 21 miles I took a pretty big spill on the bike trail today right at where there is a stop sign for cars (not bikes or runners). It had started raining and that dark black top was slick.
I came down on my left shoulder and hip.
Besides an assortment of scrapes I have a raised hemotoma the size of a grapefruit on my hip. The worst part is I separated my left shoulder. I go to the Bone and Fracture Clinic tomorrow at 8 to have it "set" as the nurse described it.

The county guy who cuts the grass and prunes the trees saw me go down. He wasn't very far. He was to me before I could collect my senses. I'm lucky nothing broke.

Sigh

Tomorrow will be the 1st anniversary of my son's passing, Ed the III

A year ago on this date was when I had to say the most languishing words a parent will ever have to mutter. "Take him off life support". I know the decision was the right one, but on this day I will always be tormented. It seems so unnatural for a child to pass before the parent. So if you're reading this, you're a parent and have access to your child, give them an extra special hug, kiss or word of love. You never know what is around the bend in life and you want them to know how much you care.

They deserve it and so do you!

I'm REALLY looking forward to this coming weekend.
On Sunday traveling to Traverse City, MI to visit, going to be there 4 days.
We have an aunt that lives on Spider lake there and I'll be enjoying the water as well as their extensive bike/walk trail system.
I plan on making a day of it on Monday by riding .

I'll be taking the TART Trail which connects to the Leelanau Trail for a total of 27 miles :) Sutton's Bay is near the end of the path and there are some really nice restaurants there to eat lunch at.

It's going to be a great trip :)
