My name is Cristina and I am puertorican, recently moved to NC. I have always struggled with my weight. The only way I ever lost some pounds was by eating one meal a day, drinking mostly juice and coffee whenever I was a little hungry. As I got older I started getting more health conscious because my family does not have the best health history; cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, bad circulation you know the norm in most families. So I decided to start doing exercise but I wanted something that I enjoyed, that way it would feel like a boring chore, that's how I started doing yoga.

I love doing yoga and as you progress it is much more that just stretching on the floor. (I am a little upset that this website has only one choice for yoga when there are many types and different intensities but oh well.) At first I was a little self conscious about going out to a gym and taking a class, so I decided to buy a yoga mat and look for classes on Youtube, that is when I found yoga with Adriene. She is fun to watch, it is absolutely free and I can do it at my time, my pace and she has videos for beginners to get you started. Being in this practice has helped me a lot in my daily life and I actually look forward to hop on the mat every day and let my stress and my anxiety go, a perfect balance of relaxing and having me time and challenge of my physical abilities.
