Cut out added sugar for a few days. Seems to have made a difference.

I'm actually kind of leery of daily weigh ins. I know there's one school of thought that says weighing in every day helps you make minor course corrections before things get out of hand. But for me, they're usually counter productive. There's bound to be small daily fluctuations in weight. And suddenly going up a pound when I've really been making an effort can be enough to send me into a binge-eating tailspin. (I'm weak, what can I say? :-))
But this morning I was curious how much simply eating "normally" would affect the scale. I wasn't very active yesterday and, while I didn't over indulge, my diet wasn't terribly disciplined either. But, down another pound. I must have really been hitting that holiday buffet mighty hard.
From here on, twice weekly weigh-ins I think. See you Wednesday!

2.5 pounds in three days. Apparently just laying off the holiday goodies makes a real difference. Now, when I lose the next 2.5 pounds I'll really start to believe I'm on to something... :-)

Weight's been creeping up, oh-so-slowly, for months. Have had a lot of physical challenges since last summer. Wound up being less active and resorting to comfort eating a lot. Have been back in the gym pretty steadily for a couple months. Upper body doing great. Very, very carefully nursing lower body back to snuff. Now it's time to get serious about diet.
Want to lose weight very slowly - 1-2 lbs per week - to avoid the "metabolism free fall" that I'm convinced often accompanies rapid weight loss. Also dividing it up into 12lb increments. Attainable goals.
Never ever thought I'd be talking about getting "down to 300lbs" but that's the first stop. Happy New Year all!
