What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
What a great thread! I've thoroughly enjoyed reading through it. My biggest reason for losing weight is my health. I have high blood pressure and to hear my doctor say that I am a walking heart attack or stroke scares the hell out of me. And like someone else mentioned, I hate it when my thighs rub together! I'm afraid I'm going to start a forest fire and burn down the whole state of Georgia!

What's your favorite 100 calorie snack?
For all the naysayers on the cayenne pepper boosting your metabolism, she is correct. Google it. As little as 1 tbsp. hot peppers in a cooked dish can boost your metabolism. The effects may be temporary (but isn't all metabolism boosters somewhat temporary?) and it affects each person differently, but if you were to introduce more spicy food in to your diet you would see a change. Even a sprinkle of cayenne on a boiled egg can certainly boost it for a little while, again, it is how it affects a person individually. I learned this in my Nutrition class at culinary school. We were juicing every morning and one day we added in cayenne pepper, wow, what a difference. I've been using this little trick for a while.

Been a while!
I haven't been on here for a while, life just gets in the way sometimes.
I have struggled with losing 30 pounds, and keeping it off for about 2 years. I have managed to lose 15 and keep it off for a while, but it is that last 15 that I am struggling with. I have severely high blood pressure and the meds make me feel so sluggish and depressed that my doc said I should get back down to 110 and let's see if that helps so I can get off the meds. I am more determined that ever to do this. I want to be healthy and not have to take any meds at all.
The one thing that is NOT helping is that I am a 49 year old culinary student. I start my third quarter next Monday. I will be spending the next several weeks in Baking and Pastry classes. I've got to keep this under control or I could go spiraling in to a sugar coma! Anyway, just wanted to come back and hang out with you guys and gals. Thanks for listening! Cheryl
