For 19 years I have been morbidly obese. Now, I have children, drive a mommy van, have short hair and I fit the part of a typical overweight mom in America. My kids are a little overweight, and most of that is genetics (they are adopted) so people look at me and then look at my kids as I drive thru McD's to get their dinner (they are treated once every two weeks to McD's). I feel like a failure to myself, almost 40 and stuck in the same rut with no will power. At this point, I'm not doing it to look good, or be a supermodel, but I would like to at least fit into cuter clothes and not be embarrassed to buy junk food once in a while. And of course, the obvious is that I want to be healthier for my kids. A 4 yr old can be very blunt-my daughter who tells me all the time she wants to be me, and wants to be a mommy, told me yesterday "mommy, I don't want to be fat like you". Imagine the sting. So innocent and blunt. I just smiled and told her she wasn't. It's time for me to think about the right reasons to lose weight and not that candy bar I sneak and eat in my car while no one is looking.
