It's been a while hasn't it? Two years since I last logged and I've only gained a net of 6 pounds. I should be very grateful! I've gained some and I've lost some, I've had to push myself a lot to get where I am. There was a lot of emotional eating, weight gain, and essentially me not taking care of myself like I needed to. I think I hit 142ish again at one point. Now I'm getting back on track though. I don't really have a substantial goal or timeline in mind that I feel compelled to reach which has led to a lack in motivation somewhat. But here is a little weekly check in:

Food: I'm back home, and it's very easy to succumb to fast food, especially when it's just a call away. Sometimes it's hard to make good choices when I'm tired, even though I know there are good options. I haven't cooked anything this week besides some steamed broccoli (and that helped flush some things out of my system, lol). I also visited my boyfriend in California for part of the week, which meant a lot of delicious high-calorie foods! It wasn't so bad though.

Exercise: I walked a lot when I was in California, but the day I flew back sucked. I always move some at work with the after school program, but not enough to consider myself more than lightly active. I walked on Friday, which felt really good in the Fall weather, and I did Zumba on Saturday. Now that I've had time to recoup from Jet lag I can focus on getting back into the swing of things.

Goals for this week: Weight wise I just want to go down, hopefully another pound, but zig-zagging has become more common than I'd like. I'll be fighting that! I guess if I had to set a goal to hold on to, it would be to hit the 120s by December, so 5ish pounds in 6 weeks. So for this week, 1 lb.

I also want to make my lunch the night before for the whole week and have dinner prepared for at least 3 nights this week. Exercise-wise, if possible I want to be active for 3 days this week as well, and that can be Zumba or walking in the neighborhood, or going to the Y. We will see.

As always, wish me luck ;)

The past couple weeks have been interesting. Week 1 was interrupted by my oral surgery, and then I was stuck on a diet of soft foods for a few days. Because of that I've been thrown off food-wise. Week 2 I guess I was really focused when it came to my calories or the way I ate put me around 1200. In any case, it feels very unbalanced. I have lost weight, quite a lot more than I think is healthy really. I lost a little over 3 pounds in one week alone without interfering factors, and I didn't even exercise much outside of kendo.

Good news though is that I have finally hit the 120's! I'm not as excited as I thought I would be because of how I got here. It's going faster than I anticipated. I want to work my calories back up, but I don't want my body to backfire on me.

Oh by the way, I definitely hit my birthday goal, woo! Next goal is still 120 by Christmas, but at this rate I could hit it by Thanksgiving...but I will not try.

This week, I want to eat around 1300 every day. Small steps. Let's see how my body reacts to that. And I don't mean exactly 1300, I mean anything between 1300 and 1399. Exercise-wise, I will not be able to do too much. I'll try Kendo on Monday, but I'm going to the beach this coming weekend, so I can't make any promises then ;)

The summer was wonderful. I gained like 8 pounds or so though. Didn't like that so much. Host mom cooked delicious food and I ate a lot of it. I only learned to control my intake a few weeks before we returned to America. I learned a bit about Japanese cooking, which was wonderful.

The month before returning to school I came down some once I was able to control what I was eating again. It was quite a relief. It's surprising how upset I get when I can't control what I eat. Must be linked to my weight loss goals.

Now, back at school, I've almost recovered from Japan. I've been eating a mainly vegetable diet with the occasional turkey or fish. I've been trying to balance what I eat nutritionally speaking. The way I've been eating puts each meal at 200-350 calories, and I end up eating around 1200-1300 calories every day.

My activity level is okay. In a perfect week, I have kendo on Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays, and I go to kickboxing on Thursdays. And maybe I might work out working out (haha) with Taylor on Saturdays after brunch, so I might actually work in all my activity for the week. Woot. I also walk around to all my classes as usual, so that always adds a little more activity to my sedentary lifestyle.

I say sedentary and I eat like I’m sedentary, but I’m probably lightly active now. I wonder if it’s dangerous to keep my intake where it currently is. 1200 is the lowest you should go, but is that as low as you should go in general, or as low as you should go when sedentary? Should I see a nutritionist? I think I’ve been able to balance everything so far, nutritionally speaking, so it should be okay. If I start shaking or feeling ill, then I will reconsider things, but it seems fine for the time being.

So, activity level good, nutrition level good, caloric intake…we’ll see. In general, wonderful :)

My goal was to get down to a healthy weight by my birthday but I already achieved that. So, next goal will be to hit the 20’s by Fall Break, which will be 5 weeks from now.

I guess in the grand scheme of things, this has worked for the better. I skipped a weigh in since I was gone to a convention. I weighed in the Monday after getting back, but didn't officially record it (it was like 133.9 or something). But now in comparison, it looks like I made even more progress (haha).

For the past week, I've been doing Zumba with my aunt and walking with Taylor. It's been working out pretty well but I'm worried my body got used to it. Oh well, it'll be going through a lot more over the next 8 weeks :D Overall, a pretty good end considering how I was eating.

Food. At first, I took a whatever-is-healthy approach, but then it turned into around-1200 calories...anyway, it turned out pretty well.

This will be my last post for a couple months. I've looked into the Japanese diet and it looks pretty healthy. The only thing to look out for is high sodium, and I think I can handle that. I'm very excited. I will be wary, but I still want to enjoy myself. I'm not going to calorie count while I'm there (since I can't weigh myself anyway), so I will become comfortable with intuitive eating.

Goals in general though are to stick to vegetables, fruits, and fish and stay away from red meat and fried things. I don't have a lot of control over activity level, so let that happens as it happens.

I can't wait to see what my next post will look like, haha.
