Last weekend there had been a couple cocktails consumed, and the consequences are not a single pound was lost or gained during the week. Until this morning's weigh in: 1.5 lb loss. It has taken my body 4 days to burn the alcohol from last Saturday's event. So it appears this aktins diet is a dry party.

By the way, how do I display the "weight loss scale thing" at the bottom of yalls post? These timelines of everyone's weight loss are very encouraging.

I measure my body everyday using my leather belt. I've come down two notches since I've started the atkins diet. I believe alcohol prohibits my body from burning fat as fuel, but does one drink over the weekend cause my momentum to halt? It seems hard to believe one low-carb no sugar vodka drink prevents the process of losing weight. Agree?

I started keeping a detailed food journal on this site, anything and everything from meats to condiments. The meticulous journal entries seemed to be redundant so I quit entering my daily intake. I kept losing weight by sticking with this customized atkins diet: no potatoes, sugar, bread, or junk food. But it seems now, once I have a cocktail or two during the weekend, the momentum of losing weight decreases. I don't over eat when I consume either. By the way, my drink of choice is vodka with diet tonic and a splash of lime. No beer, no wine, no sugary mixers. It's possible the consumption of alcohol is prohibiting my body from burning fat as fuel. But how many "Thomas Specials" am I allowed to drink without interrupting my weight loss? Just curious if you all had any experience with this situation.

I have been on the atkins diet for several weeks now, sailing through the induction phase with ease. During that time I did not consume a drop of alcohol, but now that I have moved into the second phase, I'd like to partake in a couple cocktails during the weekends. It seems the weight scale loves me during the week when I am consistently losing weight, but Sat. and Sun. mornings are always a disappointment when I've gained a pound.
Has anyone been successful with maintaining their atkins diet during the week, while enjoying a couple adult beverages with the buddies over the weekend or should alcohol be completely omitted from the diet?
