Still dancing around with these same few pounds. Today is a vintage fair and tomorrow I'll be decluttering with a client, so there will be some activity/exercise. My dad is coming over this afternoon to bake Snickerdoodles with me to celebrate autumn. The original recipe I had was 182 calories per cookie! I thought I could do better, so I found a recipe that calls for a quarter of the butter and uses a sugar substitute. I chose Truvia, so we're going to be experimenting today. The new recipe is 54 calories a cookie (so they're probably smaller), but I think the taste should still be on point. Beef stew for dinner: it's autumn!

I just measured myself, then went back to June and looked at my measurements then. On June 15th I weighed 164.6 and my measurements totaled 220". Today I weighed 149.9 and my total measurements came in at 204".
I'm not having to lose a ton of weight, and I'm not doing anything like meal replacement or fasting or changing a lot. Little changes have made a big deal in my life and even though I've been bouncing around the past couple of weeks gaining and losing the same couple of pounds, I feel very motivated by the inches! My pants are all loose; I wore some today that used to be very snug and now I can pull them off without unbuttoning them. That's motivation!
I feel better. I'm only 5'3" but I'm walking a little taller, LOL! I'd like to encourage all of you to keep on doing whatever you're doing. Little things add up!
Five years ago I weighed 185 and I'm down 35 pounds from that. I wasted some time doing the diet yo-yo but feel confident that those days are behind me. I still get cravings... the last couple of weeks I've been kind of blue and have felt several times that a doughnut would make me happier. I am shocked that I've been able to resist. My brain won over my stomach! If there's some way to knock that little diet devil off my shoulder, I'd sure like to know how. Cravings and temptation are so hard to combat sometimes.
I'm saying all this having had a bowl of ice cream tonight, but I measured it and saved up enough calories to "afford" it. That system works for me. I ate a lot of raw zucchini for lunch to be able to have that ice cream and it was totally worth it!

I have slipped into the very bad habit of ice cream at night in front of the TV. Partly it's because we've had it in the house; I bought it for my Dad's birthday. I ate the last of it last night and will not be buying any more. I have difficulty controlling portions; sometimes I don't even put it in a bowl. I share this with you because it's part of my "dealing with it" process I'm going through with food. There are certain foods that trigger me in ways I find hard to deal with, and sometimes... I just don't want to try.
On the other hand... I was in a good place with my knees yesterday and did a lot of walking, including up and down my cousin's super steep driveway. I burned a couple of calories :)
And... I just got the diagnosis back from the MRI on my knee: it boils down to a meniscul tear and severe arthritis. There's cartilege loss, a bone spur, and something else I can't remember. I've been referred to ortho, so we shall what the next step might be. If surgery is involved, I'm waiting until after Christmas. Last year the holiday was horrific because I was in so much pain. I'm MUCH better right now, so I'll soldier through and figure it out later.
