Update 10/11/20
After trying to do the 12 hour time trial back in 2018 and completing a 108 mile ride in 4h35m, I stopped riding the bike consistently, had a bike accident with some more broken ribs, and started slowly gaining weight. I peaked around 188lbs which is the most I've ever weighed and I didn't like it! So going to watch what I'm eating again, counting calories, and consistently working out. Getting down to 146 or so is probably a stretch but 155 to 160 with some more muscle would be great!

2018:
Trying to drop some weight and keep muscle so that I can go faster on the bicycle. My goal for 2018 is to ride 221 miles during a 12 hour time trial event in October. My ultimate goal is in Oct 2019 and is to ride 400 miles or more in 24 hours to qualify for the Race Across America. And yes, sitting on a little seat for that long can be challenging!

I started semi-watching my weight back in April when I was about 170 lbs but toward the beginning of the year I was probably about 175 lbs. I like to tell people I’m 5’11 but I’m definitely starting to shrink as I get older! I have a numbers fetish so when I get serious about losing weight I start tracking all of intake calories, weighing myself every day, and tracking all my calories burnt. What seems to work best for me is to accurately track calories in and calories out and try for a weekly 3500 calorie deficit. I’m not trying to eat anything special other than drinking more water cutting back on the number of soda’s I drink, especially Mountain Dew! While riding I’m currently trying to keep my heart rate in the “fat burning” zone. Later on I will ride with more intensity and start doing planks to try and gain muscle.
