I am a 42 years old woman. My weight was always around 62-65 kg, sometimes I put on a bit more, but within a few weeks I could always easily get back into shape.

Two years ago I started to put on a lot of weight. I have been sitting a lot with a minimal of exercise. I was also stressed and emotionally not too well. Of course I noticed that I was gaining weight: my clothes being the most obvious signs, and also sometimes a photo was a shocking view. But somehow I still saw myself as the okay-shaped woman. I just didn't admit that I became overweight and fat. I was around 80 kg, or even more. I never stepped on the scale...

Last year I was doing a lot of yoga, which helped me a lot, but it was not enough to lose weight. I eat healthy generally with heaps of vegetables, little meat, but I love bread... Also, there was one thing that I only learned later: eating healthy does not mean to lose weight, because I can eat way too much healthy food...

I had two turning points at the beginning of this year. I started to go to the gym around January. I was only walking briskly on the thread machine, but it felt good. Once after the gym I looked into the mirror and suddenly I saw the extra weight on my body. It was as I saw it for the first time. I accepted and at the same time it was just pure love to myself that I felt, and that helped me to face the situation fully.

Not too much time after I ordered a new passport and the photo was shocking. Then I started to check on diets and I learned about RDI and counting calories and this is how I found FatSecret. It works for me so well, because I eat whatever I like and all I have to do is to pay attention for the numbers.

How to curb late night eating?
I also agree with most of you. Be strong in my decision that helps most of the time. I have some old clothes hanging on the wall that i could wear some years ago and whenever I have some cravings for snacks or late night munching, then I try to look at them and remind me to the feeling of having those skirts on. Also, I always have the next weight goal (one kilo less then I am presently) written on a paper and displayed it on the fridge and some other places on the wall. That is a clear reminder and most of the times it stops me snacking.

I also agree, that if I eat properly during the day - within my calorie limit - and use enough salt, then I don't have cravings.

Great topic btw, thank you OP!

How to curb late night eating?
someone suggested here on FS earlier: cucumber with a pinch of salt. It helps me sometimes, because my cravings are usually for salty snacks.

How can I attach a file (photo)?
Thank you so much Revilo! This was most helpful. It should work now.

I tried to find the info in the faq section, but I couldn't. Thanks again!

How can I attach a file (photo)?
I tried to click on the "image" icon, of course, but that only gives me a strange (img)(/img) addition to my text. Is it this where I have to put the details of the photo: directory and file name?
I don't get any pop-up window that would offer me the option of attaching a file. I am baffled Confused
