Well, my appetite is back. Yesterday I started wanting to eat everything again. Sigh. But, I stuck to my "3 healthy habits" and did okay.
I woke up this morning with a terrible headache, probably thanks to going off the decongestant, so I skipped my morning workout. I took some aleve and it's gone, so I'm planning on going for a run this afternoon. I'm hoping that a run will help to remind me why I'm choosing to eat well and keep me on the healthy path. Otherwise, I worry that I will give in to all my cravings. I need to keep doing the activities that keep me focused!

So, my sinuses have been given a certificate of health, and I'm off the high-dose decongestant! This will mean better nights of sleep and a healthy appetite. It also means that some of my naughty cravings will come back.
However, I think that a lot of my irresponsible eating was an effect of letting myself get too hungry, so I'm going to stick with my initial "healthy habits" for now. It really focuses on keeping my body satisfied with healthy foods.
I exercised this morning and I'm already craving some chocolate, but I'm hoping to satisfy myself with a healthy snack. We'll see.... I'm staying open minded about changing my 3 "healthy habits" for the challenge as my body gets used to an appetite again.

Day 1 of the challenge; and the "challenge" part is much different than it has been the rest of my adult life. I'm taking a decongestant the kills my appetite, so instead binging on junk, I haven't been eating regularly enough. My stomach doesn't tell me I'm hungry and I haven't been noticing that I need to eat until I'm burnt out and crabby and have no energy. It's been making workouts hard. I'm hoping to get off the decongestant after a doctor appointment today, but for now I'm still on it and my new healthy habits are designed for that:
1) eat a nutritious snack during recess every day (10am on non-school days), so that I am not lethargic by lunch;
2) eat dinner before 6:30 at night,
3) plan an easy-access, no prep snack for after work every day, to give energy for an evening run.
I think that covers the times that lead to my low energy spells.
This will all need to be re-written if I drop the decongestant, because my natural appetite is more than healthy, but these are my habits to start!

Today I'm focusing on prepping food for the week. With the decongestant that kills my appetite, I haven't been able to rely on my stomach to tell me that I'm hungry and I wouldn't realize that i needed nutrition until I was drained or just plain crabby. I need to make sure that I stay fueled. I need easy access to healthy food early in the day when I've been skipping or skimming. So I'm going to make a breakfast casserole and some snacks for recess. I need to make sure I eat something during recess because I've been too drained by the time lunch comes around. The 10 day challenge starts tomorrow, so I need to think of ways to turn these ideas into 3 positive habits.

Came in just under my goal today! The hubby made his amazing pesto, that is just loaded with olive oil and almonds... healthy but insanely calorie dense. While I was off on a jog, I came home to find pesto made WITH a list of ingredients with measurements. What a supportive sweetheart he is! I've always thought his pesto was just "off limits", but with some help and self-control, I realize I can still eat whatever he eats, in moderation.
