LCHF diet
After trying almost everything after reaching a weight loss plateau a couple of yeas ago, and after a lot of research I sceptically tried this diet really expecting it not to work. I however, was pleasantly surprised when I first dropped 6lbs in the first week, 10lbs after 2 weeks, 16lbs after 3 weeks and up to 21lb within 6 weeks. As the man earlier says, low carb; for me it was no more than 20gms per day to get my body into full dietary ketosis, which took about 2 weeks, it will vary. The reason for high fat, is that once the carbs are removed, your body look for the next preferred source on energy, which is fat, (consume healthy fat, coconut oil, avocado oil, MCT oil, and cook from fresh) However, you must keep you protein consumption moderate.
If you do not consume enough fat, your body is likely to start breaking down muscle and turning it into sugars and using that for energy, which must be avoided.
Fat is your friend on this diet just so long as your carbs are low enough and once to get it right you body will; target fat for fuel. Which means, you body will begin to use fat from all around your body as fuel so long as you are in calorific deficit. (500 calories of so.) I can tell you the consumption of fat made me feel full and satisfied.
It takes a bit of getting used to and may is not for everyone.
I've been on this for 2 years now, written a book about it, explaining this diet in simple terms: And I am loving it.
