Just joined this community, I was already on Day 8 of detox and diet and going well. The biggest plus is no booze for 8 days. The pints must have been killing me. 5 pints a night no wonder the pounds piled on and you felt so crap. You kidding yourself you were going there to meet people for business. Who would want to do business with a guy sitting at a bar all evening anyway. And really most of those people don't have a money to do business anyway.
Look at the energy you have, clear head, feeling great looking great. Compliments coming daily. For what missing 2 hours in the bar.
Food was never really you issue, however the problem was when you had a few drinks you just ate crap, whatever was quick and handy. Will power disappeared.
Avoiding breakfast also big bad mistake, thinking that was good "starve yourself" then small lunch and then big dinner because Sue had that made. How wrong! Now a nice breakfast of wheatabix and fruit and sets me up for the day. Snacks; having grapes at your desk and baby carrots with chill power to give them a little kick. It is all about breaking one habit and making a new one that you can stick to. Avoid people who will bring you down and try to break your will, they are not friends, they are jealous because they can’t do it and feel bad because you can. Buy a bike, don't go daft and cycle miles and miles. Just get on the bike and start a nice casual cycle even just around the neighborhood. It’s amazing what you see and who you meet, just a wee hello here and there. It’s a start, its more that you did before. How about 5 pushups in the morning, just 5, it’s easy you can do it. Then 6-7. But do it every morning in the bathroom. It’s a new simple habit to start and keep. ( I did 25 this morning) Am I talking to myself here or will I share this. I looked initially at the blank screen and thought this is a load of BS. But actually as I type more and more thoughts pop into my head. I have tried changing my bad habits or should I say bad habit and that is going for beers after work every night. Lasted for a week and slowly back into it again. Now I am not going to turn into a bloody monk but I need to say okay special occasions during the week, people in town visiting ( living in Dubai) they come all the bloody time. But hey you can say “no , I will see you at the weekend, it’s a school night, I got to go to work” , or Jesus Martin what about going out and having water and lemon. Or if you must, why not a couple of glasses of wine. If you do want to do the pints and you know you do because you love your pints leave, it to the weekend. Or can you change? Okay let’s look at the volume on big sessions. So what is a big session for me it is 15 + pints I don’t drink spirits and unless out for a meal only drink wine at home, that said I don't dink cider at home. That said I don’t drink much at home. Probably because I drink enough at the bar. Anyway a big session would 15+ pints. That is about 2 gallons or just under 9 liters. A small car takes about 12 gallons for a full tank. Makes you think. An evening after work drink would be honestly 5-6 pints- 3.5Ltrs. This is what needs to change but without becoming a hermit. How about large white wine and soda in a pint glass.
So the objective is to find a new habit(s), I play squash so increase that to 2 times a week. I have a swimming pool where I live so how about that, I have a gym hmmmm. I have my bike now and that was supposed to be every morning and every evening. Come on Martin practice what you preach. Wait do it little by little. Get a good book today. You are flying next week and in the sun , start a book tonite.
Anyway that’s me speak to myself soon.
