I turn 46 this year in August and my goal is to achieve a BMI that sits in the normal range. I started this journey and 95 kilos which was right on the cusp of obese 1 and obese 2!

While weight loss is a primary goal, I also want to change my lifestyle, so that the norm is healthy eating, regular exercise, so that my overall well being improves.

Last year I had 2 operations and the recovery period took its toll on me. I gained 15 kilos in 4 months. I did not move around much after each surgery [lots of couch potato action]. Also my medication effected my hormones and while I was on the medication I had incredible urges to consume chocolate and sweet things - which I did in great volume. Luckily this is now under control as after stopping the medication I no longer had the urges for sweet things!...but as a consequence I had a nice blobby tire band tummy!

To date [14/6/2013], I am halfway through my journey. It has been hard work and I am guessing will continue to be hard work as I concentrate on losing the excess calories. Instead of worrying about the total amount of Kilos I need to lose, I try to think about 5 kilos at a time. I have been going to the gym 3 x per week and have also increased activity in my life. Lots of walking, cycling and generally being more active. My tummy band is pretty much gone now and I am also concentrating on building muscle and body tone.

Sure...I have my moments where I slip.....I have learnt to forgive myself, pick myself up, and keep going towards the goal I want to achieve.
