Went to Vermont yesterday to see my father-in-law in the nursing home. Brought our thirteen year old grandson to see him as well. He was quite surprised to see us all since he didn't know we were coming. It was especially sweet since it was Veteran's Day and he served in the army during WWII. They were having a special veterans luncheon at noon for all those who served in the nursing home. We had to leave by noon (which is when the luncheon started) in order to have our grandson back home for a doctor's appointment. So it was a rushed day to say the least! It was looking forward to the luncheon, so I'm sure he head a good time. He seems to be failing more and more but at 89 and with all his health issues that's to be expected. He doesn't seem to be keeping his sugar under control and it looks like they don't watch his diet all that well in there. He was having chocolate milk a lot when he first arrived there. Thank god they finally stopped that! He said he started to choke on a plain donut the day before and thought for sure he was going to die. He has been complaining of having a hard time swallowing so they are supposed to do a swallow test. That still hasn't happened. They had him on soft foods but he hated it and refused to eat so he's back on solid foods. Still complains about the food but that's to be expected. We will be going back up on Dec. 5th for an early Christmas gathering at my sister-in-laws house and he will be there for the day so I hope health wise he is able to make it.
So, picked up some salmon and fixings for salad so it's back to healthy eating. Still have to finish the firewall in the garage so we can get the final inspection done as well as the electrical work. I'm hoping all this falls into place in the next few days or a week. This has been a very long project.

Haven't written anything in awhile. Too much going on with the garage install, paving of the driveway and window install. Not to mention my father-in-law slowly declining more and more every week since he went into the nursing home. Doesn't remember when anyone last visited him. Seems to think he's all alone there. We will be going up Wednesday with our youngest grandson. Hopefully that will cheer him up.
Diet is all over the place! Skipping meals (with the exception of something to drink) and then next meal being take out usually and far from healthy. Stress really taking over here. The garage should be finished by Tuesday. Once the building inspector comes through on last time that's one less project to worry about. Driveway should be paved tomorrow so two for two! Windows should be in by the end of the week. It's starting to get cold here so I hope so.
Weight is the same so I guess I shouldn't complain but I could use a little downward trend right now. As they say, there is always tomorrow!

Celebrated Zack's birthday last night at Buffalo Wild Wings. Everyone came and it was a fun night. I had the black and bleu burger with coleslaw. It was good! We had never been there before so it was hard to decide what to have. Not the best choices to make but back to the norm for the start of the week.
