Starting Weight = 476 pounds
Week #15 Closing = 390 pounds

Numbers Update:
First negative week, gained 3 pounds
86 pounds banished
18.07% of Body Weight banished
BMI down 10.4 points to 54.0 points

Been feeling heavy all week. I think my body is just adjusting to the 18 pounds I lost over the past two weeks prior to this one. Additionally, the doctor put me on a steroid & a muscle relaxer for my neck; started giving me issues a few days after my wreck. It is very sensitive to touch on the sides & feels like it needs to be "popped," but I can't get it to pop; so the pressure keeps building. Going to the chiropractor in the morning; took forever to get an appointment.

Oh well, a little slippage on the climb never killed anyone. It is just a test of my fortitude & dedication to this climb. No matter the reason, having your first negative week at week 15 is not too bad. If you told me 15 weeks ago I would be setting here 86 pounds lighter, but coming off a negative week; I would have taken the deal hands down. So no need to sulk of throw a pity party here.

I do think I did not eat enough throughout the week; only averaged 1,391 calories per day Monday through Friday. Went slightly over on Saturday & Sunday, but no biggies. Me & my sons took my wife to the beach for Mother's Day yesterday. She loves riding over to the ocean for the day. Then we had dinner at the best pizza shop in Savannah; Vinnie Van Go Go's!!! It is pizza straight out of heaven. First pizza I have eaten in 15 weeks. I don't know who enjoyed it more, me, her or the boys? I'm lying; I think I did.

So as I say so often, the mountain is what the mountain is. Today is the dawning of a new day & a new week to assault the mountain side. The climb begins anew; with maybe a little more intelligent approach. I know I need to eat more & stay closer to my RDI versus in the 65% to 70% of RDI range. I know a better breakfast would be beneficial. So I have got to figure out what I can squeeze into that time frame.

The most amazing thing about gaining three pounds is my insight, which I feel is a gift bestowed upon me by this community. Your knowledge, experiences, & advice have allowed me to assess my climb & see the path to correcting it; versus ceasing all efforts & abandoning ship, like I would have done in the past.

I vow to dig my heels in deeper this week. I will find a way to increase my intake in a healthy manner; especially the breakfast calories. I will hit the cardio hard & put in my miles.

So here's to everyone having a successful week. Let's set our focus on the peak & keep putting that one foot in front of the other. For those of us that need a recovery week, let's go out & make that happen. For those of us out there still blazing the trail on new ground, keep on keeping on. For those on the peak, keep those lanterns lit, we can see them & rest assured we are on our way to the party on the peak. For those in the valley starting up this mountain, welcome. You certainly have come to the right place.

This is a mountain of agony. This is a mountain of hardship. This is mountain of possibility. This is a mountain of teaching. This is a mountain of freedom. This is a mountain of life. You will learn many things on this climb. You will get to know many new people on this mountain. But most of all, you will learn a lot about yourself on this mountain; & you will get to know yourself better on this mountain.

I almost feel sorry for the people who don't get to climb it. The most exhilarating rewards come from the most challenging tasks.

To the peak gang!!!

Good morning on the mountain side & Happy Mother's Day as well!! I hope everyone is having a nice weekend & spending time like you want to be spending it.

I've really been struggling with cravings this weekend. I decided to eat a double cheeseburger last night for dinner. It was awesome. I went over on my daily calories at 2,255; but had only been averaging 1,391 a day through Friday. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think I ate too little this week; which resulted in my cheeseburger cravings. Plus I've out in 15 miles worth of cardio on the treadmill.

With losing 18 pounds the last couple weeks, my Idiot Box conversation might not go well tomorrow. But I am overdue a bad week, so onward & upward. This is were we heal. We face the challenges. Work through the challenges. And most importantly, learn to deal with the challenges.

So here's to being more balanced moving forward. I know I need to be closer to my RDI & that less & less calories is not the long term solution as long as I am working out.

Keep the climb alive gang. It is the peak we seek.

Good morning gang! Hope all is well out there on the mountain for you today. Let this new day be one filled with the fortitude to fend off temptations, the fierceness to attack your given plan, & the focus to see your day end as a successful step in your journey.

It is "Friday Eve" or more better know by the common name of Thursday. So Let's begin to get our heads straight for the approaching weekend that tends to trap us in some difficult situations where sticking to our plan becomes arduous. Be aware that you may need to build alternatives into any given plan to prevent going off the rails & having a full blown caloric gorge attack.

So let's keep doing what we do. Keep putting one foot in front of the other & keep the climb alive today gang. Strive to be the flame of the fire today gang. Light the path for yourself, as well as others to follow. Be willing to be the hammer & not the nail, by owning every situation you find yourself in. Be willing to be truth, by being candid enough to be honest with yourself when confronted with temptations that you would love to partake of, but know are the path to the dark side.

Remember this, at its' core, this journey is all about change. We must be accepting of the things we must change in order to achieve that, which we wish to achieve. There are no short cuts. There are no magic potions. We have to put in the effort to change our practices in order to create the changed person we seek to be. So again, be changed today gang. Go out there & show those around you this change by your actions. Who knows? They might want to join in on the climb.
