I'm happy about this loss. I was really worried that I wouldn't have any loss, after all the effort I've put in to be consistent with my new lifestyle. I would have loved to have a bigger loss, but I'll take it!

For exercise last week, I did a walk/run on Mon, weightlifting and strength training on Tues and Wed, and walking on Thursday and Friday (to recoup from muscle soreness). I didn't run at all on those last two days, because I had pulled my hip on Mon from walking with too long a stride. It's just how I walk, so I'll have to really focus on taking shorter steps until it becomes my normal.

I stayed under my RDI every day and stuck to my food plan: oatmeal and eggs for my two morning meals, a salad with protein for lunch, my regular dinner (meat, veggie, starch), and an evening snack (popcorn and a piece of fruit). I've been eating a lot more veggies :)

I've been avoiding certain fruits that are too sweet/appetite stimulating to me, like soft fruits. I'm eating just apples and pears right now, plus berries and cantaloupe in my oatmeal and water. I began putting fruit into a pitcher, filling it with water, and letting it sit over night. It's a nice way to have more of a variety of beverages.

I tried dried cranberries and avocado in my salads, but they're too high in sugar and calories, so I'm going to forgo them this week. They are not a necessity to me. And staying under my RDI is important to me - I feel accomplished when I do so. I love all the different ways I've been cooking my eggs and making my salads. I love variety!

I wish I had been more active last week. I wasn't consistent with the amount of calories I burned and some days were too low for my liking. That is something I'll try to pay more attention to this week. At least I worked out/was active every day.

How are you doing with your eating/exercising? Are there any clean eaters out there? What is your diet and your exercise program/routine like?

Yahoo! Wow...I am stunned. 4.6 lbs in ONE week. I owe this to eating super clean.

This is definitely more than a weight fluctuation, so that's exciting. I worked out every day (M-F), so it would be great if none of the loss was muscle.

I did a walk/run on Monday and Tuesday, and weightlifting/strength training Wed, Thurs, and Fri. For my walk/run, I've worked my way to a 12:45 min/mile for 2 miles. Wed I worked my triceps, Thurs was back, and Fri was thighs.

I definitely feel that I'm more toned, and I think I look more toned too. Of course, it could all be in my mind, because I've been consistently working out and eating clean.

When I look down while I'm sitting at the computer, my stomach looks smaller, which is nice, since that is my problem area and usually bugs me.

I was afraid I hadn't lost any weight, like last week. But I told myself I would continue my new lifestyle regardless, because I FEEL better. I feel better eating clean and not having a strong appetite. And I feel better about myself, because I'm taking good care of myself.

But it's nice to see results on the scale too of course ;)

Wow, I am super excited. This girl just might be continuing the weight loss part of her journey.

I had a fun and relaxing weekend. I really needed that to de-stress from the week. For some reason I wake up early on the weekends and have a harder time getting up during the week. I still got enough sleep though (7 hours), so I'm good.

Saturday was my first day of no nuts, pb, bananas, or drink mixes, and the start of having eggs and oatmeal (separately) for my two morning meals. Sunday began my new lifestyle of one salad a day in the afternoon. If I'm out (not at home) at that time and need to eat something, I'll try to remember to get a salad so that I'll fulfill that goal of mine.

Yesterday I ate 6 small meals and less than 1500 calories for the day. I'm really happy about that. I'm hoping it will help my metabolism, or at least make my body happy. I know I'm happy.

I feel much better cutting out the snacks and eating more nutritious meals instead. My appetite is not raging anymore, and last night was shocking: I was hungry just before bed (midnight) but chose to go to bed instead of eat (mostly because there was nothing good for me to eat at that time of day). I admit that I went to bed hungry, which I do not advocate, but the incredible part was that I was okay being hungry and could fall asleep. Food is not a dire need anymore.

I'm making sure to feed myself regularly the foods that are good for me. I'm hoping I'll see some positive changes in my body size (weight would be nice too) from making these dietary changes. I'm eating about 500 calories less than I was before making these changes, so it would be nice to lose a pound a week. But my body is really stubborn at this point, so we'll see...

I'm almost certain this small weight gain is muscle weight, because I worked out hard (strength/weight training) - harder than usual, and different exercises - Monday through Wednesday, which is also an extra day of strength/weight training for me. I'm still sore from my Wed workout, so the gain could also be some lingering water retention in my muscles.

But I'm pretty certain I did not gain fat, because I ate under my RDI 6 days of the week, sometimes significantly lower. One day (last Sat) I splurged on two meals and went a little over my RDI, but I still burned more calories than I ate that day.

Anyway, I'm not discouraged by this gain. In fact, I'm even more motivated to try some new things to maintain or lose weight, while building muscle, which is something I've been working on. I want to lose fat too, not just build muscle.

This week, starting on Monday, I gave up dairy to see if I had an intolerance to it, which I found out that it had been increasing my appetite and using a lot of extra calories each day, some of which were completely unnecessary - like the 2 slices of cheese I'd put on my sandwich every day. Plus, there is the theory that only babies should drink milk, which is what all dairy products stem from, which I'm considering as a possible truth. I used to love dairy, but I've given it up, and it also has inspired me to eat cleaner in other ways, so...

I also gave up diet soda and most diet drinks - all but diet iced tea drink mixes - on Wednesday I believe. Well, those drink mixes are going to go, starting today. I also gave up coffee (decaf), because I used to use half-and-half in it (dairy) and because it is not clean drinking. So I'll only be drinking water and tea (preferably green tea because of the health benefits).

Starting today, I will also be giving up nuts and peanut butter - two snack foods that are addicting to me and high in calories. I will also cut down/eliminate the 2 bananas I eat every day, because they are addicting to me as well.

To supplement some of the calories from these foods, I will be eating a large salad every day. I will also be eating more vegetables in general, because I don't eat enough. I will eat more meat, vegetables, and whole grains, instead of the high-calorie snack foods that are addicting to me. They didn't help my appetite, and when I ate them, I was feeding my emotional hunger.

I want to cut out my addictions and just eat food as fuel - all the time. I want to eat cleaner - to be healthier. I will be eating all small, healthy meals, about 4-5 a day, and only eating when I'm hungry. I intend to continue this clean eating lifestyle indefinitely, so this is not just to lose weight. But I do want to lose some of my belly fat and reduce my weight if possible.

I know I'm talking about a strict diet here. However, I'm not advocating this WOE for everyone, and I'm not saying it's the right way to eat. It's just something I want to do for myself. I just want to eat healthier than I have been. I'm looking forward to this new lifestyle and the possible changes it will make to how I feel and look. I'm happy that I'm back into trying to lose weight and improve my health :)

What kind of diet do you eat? Is your WOE working for you? What have your results been? What do you plan to do to continue to improve your health? Are there any changes you'd like to make to your diet?
