I had one slice of my own baked sprouted spelt flour bread last week, with an ounce of cheddar cheese, which is not really a recommended on this brain warrior lifestyle, but I still lost weight. I still have no cravings for my "former" favorite foods (burgers and ice cream), which is really amazing.

I've been on this brain warrior rampage for over 5 weeks now. My husband's dementia does not seem to be getting any better, which is very disappointing for me, but he has lost 9 lbs, with only 28 more to go. This gives him less pain, and hopefully, not being in constant pain will somehow heal parts of his brain that is not damaged permanently. No mental health professional will tell me what he has, aside from the fact that it's not Alzheimer's.

As a caregiver, I feel calmer and less exasperated with him. I have lost the severe depression that I have been swallowed up by over the last two years. I even feel contented and, even happy, in spite of the sadness of hubby's mental state.

I have also been reading "The Omni Diet" and "The Daniel Plan", which are all books written by the same family (Amen) who wrote "The Brain Warrior Way". These books are all the same diet with the same theme: Look after your brain and your brain will look after your body.

To make the food interested and tasty, it can be expensive, but is easily modified to any budget. EG: instead of goji berry powder, use blueberries or strawberries. Most Paleo recipes found online will work.

The BASIC idea is to stop letting those additives and preservatives reach your blood. The recipes in these books really help to do that, because they are so satisfying and filling.

This is the most satiating diet I've ever been on, it kills the cravings and I don't dwell on what to eat all the time, like I used to. I don't have to count calories and I love the snacks. But best of all, it has put my brain in a place which I can live with!

This is certainly a different concept from dieting. Who ever thinks of eating for your brain? To get a better understanding of this concept, I had to read Dr. Hyman's "The Blood Sugar Solution" and Dr. Amen's "Change Your Brain Change Your Life".

Why doesn't Mental Health professionals, the psychiatrists and psychologists recommend the nutritional way to take care of the brain, instead of prescribing anti-depressants and other stuff that don't even work?

Thank you Dr. Amen and Tana!! I love you guys!
