April 19th: Weight is yo-yoing in ounces...had a steady drop for several days to 244 on April 15th, then it fluctuated to 245.2 on April 16 and 245.8 on April 17th, then on 18th it dropped to 243.6 only to go back up to 244 even on April 19th. I have started walking as of April 11 and a friend reminded me our bodies build muscle when we exercise and muscle weighs more than fat. I am not up to 10,000 steps a day yet...but have been getting 4000 steps last couple of days, on April 18th almost did 5000, rained yesterday so took short walk down the street and back.

I'm thinking about trying planking...not much strength in my arms and legs or back so not sure how that will go. I did read that you start with only seconds and work your way up to about 3 minutes. My recommended calorie intake is 1700 but I'm only doing 1000-1600 a day.

Make sure your scale is on a flat, hard surface, mine was changing its readings a lot in the beginning because the floor I had it on would sag. Other than that try cutting down on your salt intake by only seasoning one meal a day with salt as the yo-yoing ounces are likely due to excess water weight. The best way to get into planking is to start with your hands on a bench or table so that more of the weight is on your feet than your upper body. Do this for about 20 seconds making sure that your hips, shoulders and heels form a straight line, and then work your way into doing a straight-arm plank on the floor with wide-set legs. Hope this helps!

We have it in the bedroom and I tried moving it to the bathroom but the floor did have a slight bow in it and it wouldn't lock onto the weight. Our scales will bounce a few minutes then locks and even when you get off the weight is there a few minutes. makes it easier for those of us with a belly to see...lol. I did the planking today for 3 seconds...yowch, my poor tummy muscles.

We haven't used real salt since I started increasing my water because my feet swelled a few weeks ago. Only salt is what might be in something we eat already but we are trying to get away from processed foods more. Just taking time since we are on a fixed income and most of our food was bought last time we bought groceries. We cleaned out the pantry yesterday and gave my neighbor several bags of things we can't eat for her kids.
