wintersmith's Journal, 26 February 2010

So my weight spiked early this week. Went from 187.5 to 190. It has since been slowly coming back down to the current 188.5. Since this really not unusual for me I'm not going to worry about it excessively. I figure these last 10 to 15 lbs will be the hardest of the bunch to drop so this up and down.

The exercise regimen is still on target. Martial arts on Monday and Saturday, a 5K run (for the dog) followed by an hour long kick boxing session every Tuesday and Thursday, and weight lifting on Wednesday and Friday. I'm thinking of expanding that to lift on Mondays as well since I would like more strength training and I do have a long, long break between lunch on Monday and the martial arts class that night so I don't think it would interfere. Ah well, we'll see if I can get my energy up on Mondays for that.

I'm also thinking of starting a local 4-on-4 soccer game out at our local park on Sundays. I have a few friends who enjoy a casual game and this would be more fun than hanging out and drinking. We'll have to see how it goes. I'll probably hold that off until April, though, since this weekend I begin training for my upcoming green belt test in earnest.

So I hope everyone enjoys their weekend, live well and enjoy the next couple days!

Yes they say when you are nearing the end it does get tougher. Sounds like you are right on the ball with your exercise. I love the strength training too. It's amazing what a difference it makes in our bodies and how we feel. Even though I do nothing like you I feel way stronger than I was and am noticing differences in how I look. Also I think it really helps to burn the fat.

Oh man, was my fist thought. Thinking I was guilty, then I looked at your food diary. I'm nosey, lol. Did you have this gain Thursday, your sodium looked REALLY high on Wednesday. You might be right on cal but you have to factor in sodium, fat, fiber. I know you know this, sometimes when we are so far in, we forget the obvious or basics -the easy stuff. When you are this close to goal, you have to be that careful. It sucks. What kinda dog do you have? my beagle would die on a 5k haha

It could well have been sodium, but the uptick was on Monday and then it has just slowly gone down. Nothing to feel guilty about. My sodium is frequently all over the place so that is nothing new. In fact, it is right in line with what my weight usually does on a weekly basis. We have a yellow lab/golden retriever mix. Always a happy dog but very high energy and he needs his exercise, so either a 45 minute run or a one hour walk every day. Beagles are fun, and make for good hunting dogs, but I wouldn't try one on a moderate run. Walking is more their thing. :)

Hey wintersmith, I wouldn't worry about the spike at all, as long as you are comfortable and keep what is going on clear in your mind. The last few pounds are extremely difficult, it's a psychological thing. Glad to see you staying with your exercise and hope everything else is going well for you.
