Hubby weighs 87.7. He lost 2kg in one week!

Definitely back on track. Surprised to lose so much so soon.

changes: Cut down on the amount of lentils/beans and switched to potatoes. (lower calories per volume) Skipped a meal yesterday. Made sure to rebound everyday.
Hubby switched to salad lunches. We both behaved fairly well with treats, mainly sticking to banana ice-cream and a small nibble of dark chocolate. Though last night we did have a kitkat.
115.7 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 1.1 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Easier when doing it together isn't it? Looks like your weight bar fell off a cliff! Good job.

Calorie density? Nah, that is a delusion. Potatoes = pure starch, and pure starch = pure sugar. Banana ice-cream! And this is on track? I really think you need to re-examine why we gain weight, and trust me, calories and calorie 'density' has NOTHING to do with it. Fat is the most calorie dense thing, yet it is the BEST thing to eat for weight loss. Losing the legumes is a good thing, but replacing them with potatoes is like quitting cigarettes and taking up cigars AND a pipe. :(

I have gone on Light n' Easy diet and it is the the only thing that has hepled me lose weight. Be sure to drink at least 2 litre of water daily (8 glasses) and burn more calories via exercise than you intake (walking alone is enough, set minimum of 10000 steps per day). This method is the only thing that has worked on me after 20 years of trying various things. I am losng at the rate of 2 kilos perweek, but this is early days so most of the loss is probably water (in spite of the big consumption). The loss will eventually fall to sa sensible 0.5 to 1 kilo per week. Just my thoughts.....

Hi Rhontique, yes it certainly helps having my partner lose weight and share the same meals as I. Soo happy to nip my upward trend in the bud and stop the unhealthy habits slipping back in on an evening. I seriously need to just learn to go to bed earlier hehe. Thanks for your comments and concern Biggergus. I completely understand your passion for sharing what works for you. In the past I did try a high fat / low carb diet so I know all about it and I use to rave on too hehe. I was also scared of carbs seeing as I had a diabetic type 1 child. I lived for a good 15 years that way. When I was strict with it, I did lose weight and yes it does work for weight loss, blood sugar control, and so I am happy to leave others to do this and work it out for themselves. Its your health afterall. For myself, I ended up at a plateau (60-63kg) with terrible constipation which led me to rethink my diet, re-educate myself and my fears and listen to Dr Mcdougall. I am currently at a great weight range for my height. I am 167cm and 53kg. I am only pushing myself further as I want to experience being lean and see how that feels health-wise, I may even have to put some weight back on in the form of muscle. But for now, I am watching my fat intake. You see if I combine fat with starch then yes it will put the fatty weight on. So yes, potato plus butter = a yummy disaster. Deep fried potato chips = a yummy seriously unhealthy disaster etc. I work with the high density/low calorie approach in order to fill my stomach with good nutritious whole food and feel like I am not on a diet. I no longer eat meat so I think I will keep the legumes up, just lower the amount. A low fat, whole food, plant based diet is what is working wonderfully for me. Both as far as my weight loss/maintenance goes and more importantly for my health and the environment. People are all unique and we all have different beliefs. As the mantra goes, its what works for you x ( its something I have to say a lot at the moment as my son, who is now 21, is back on the high fat/low carb diet to get his sugar levels under control once again. Naturally I want to tell him to take my new approach and yet its more important he just gets it under control asap whichever way he chooses) Hi Chris, thanks for sharing the light n' easy diet. It looks very balanced and nommy. Wonderful to see its working for you =) and thanks for the reminder to drink more water! Definitely something I can get slack with.

nothing sinful about my banana ice cream.. its simply a frozen banana blended in the food processor with a small amount of peanut butter and a few cashew nuts.
