LadyinDenim's Journal, 10 July 2016

After breaking fast with chicken broth, my feet were back on the ground. I knew this when I went to toss some trash and said out loud, "Aaron, just once I would like to see you replace the garbage bag when you empty the trash."

The liver and onions tasted heavenly. "Oh, God, this is so good! I want to marry myself, I'm such a good cook!" Then on to the beach, where I soaked up some sun. I was thinking how lovely the weather is here in Minnesota. I heard talk the lake was warm. Our lakes ARE too warm 😕 Skipped the picnic and ate nothing there.

Planned ahead that I would eat popcorn at the movie and join in the cake and ice cream later. The popcorn tasted really good, but made me tired later. The Secret Life of Pets scared all three kids. None of us were happy about that.

Younger daughter is happily in love with her beau. I have never seen her so happy. Older daughter skipped the cake saying, "I am staying away from sugar." 😮😀👏👏

The sugar gave me a headache and mental fog. I did or said something stupid that shocked everyone and we all laughed, but I can't remember what it was.

The little girls wanted to sleep over, so we three settled into the king sized bed and they played with the new toys, sharing nicely, being kind to each other, then they turned off the light and asked me to be the pickle in the middle. I slept through the night.

I don't feel obsessed or bingey. Fasting today.

Well, you enjoyed the birthday and you knew you would. Interesting comments about how the sugar and popcorn made you feel. I just turned 67 but before this HFLC diet I would find myself napping for an hour almost every afternoon because I was just beat. Since the diet I haven't napped once. I was beginning to think it was the sugar/flour thing but didn't know why, now I think I do. Didn't like feeling like a 90 year old in a 60 something body. Even though it's a small example, this post sheds a lot of light. I'm guessing that the longer you follow the HFLC the more you feel the effects of the occasional binge but a birthday seems worth it to me. Thanks for the description of how these things made you feel. I'm learning so much from people like you on FS.

I'm so happy you for to spend good time with your family. My youngest son wanted to see that movie. We might wait for life of pets to hit dvd. Happy Sunday!

Cudos to you on the fast breaking! It is kind of a let-down to lose that lovely euphoria when you start eating again, but you get to keep the feeling of being cleaner inside and healed in some fashion. I'm glad the liver and onions turned out well, it's always been one of my favorites!

It sounds like a wonderful day. I love liver and onions, too! And I giggled at "pickle in the middle". :)

How did you prepare your liver and onions? I love it but haven't had it in years! You just prove that sometimes it's a good thing to find yourself in a pickle :)

I set my liver in milk to take the bitterness off while I prep the other ingredients. I chop my bacon and toss it in the pan with some fat. Then add sliced onion, rings separated. I turn the bacon and onions a few times and add in the liver. I watch it carefully so it doesn't over cook, turning it a few times. That's it.

I love having the grandkids over. Today, the 7 year old helped me make biscuits. She was so proud that I permitted her to roll out the dough and cut them herself.

I really should dislike that guy, but I've never been one to hold a grudge. lol

I like him, I just don't like to argue, so I chat and let the rest of it roll. I do that with most things......every once in a rare while I let something get under my skin, usually when I am crabby to begin with :)

But I would like to try that dish....wish I had written down the name so I could look it up.

I've been out on the front porch doing surgery on my weed eater, using power tools to repair power tools...I miss all kinds of things when I wander off
