Big Boy Optimus's Journal, 25 February 2016

I knew I'd get a drop but I certainly wasn't expecting a 3.4kg drop :) after a 3.5kg gain and a pigging out weekend!!!

This puts my weight at 106.4kg which is only 0.1kg higher than my lowest official weight ever recorded :) Any weight loss of 0.2kg or more from here will mean I am back on track and that loss is fat loss :D

Last week's 3.5kg gain was food/water weight that I gained last week when I had the flu and didn't fast on Monday or Wednesday. I'm glad I was able to digest all that food within a week even with an indulgent weekend.

A big thank you to all of you here on FatSecret. Keep that motivation going strong and never give up :)

Very well done Optimus. I am intrigued by the way you control your diet. Keep it up, I think you have a formulae for successful weight loss.

Thank you all for the comments :) Whilst it's so awesome to lose that weight, I must stress that it was not a 3.4kg loss of bodyfat but I lost the temporary gain of 3.5kg of food/water I accumulated from an "off" week. Many people don't understand weight loss/fain is not the same as fat loss/gain. We all are striving for fat loss and the weight loss is a bonus. I think I've experimented enough to have customized a method to maintain fat loss even if I indulge. I'd love somebody else to follow my method and see if it works for them too. I'll put up a journal entry later on how my week is structured.

I would love to try out your method, I have some of the aspects in so far. Low carb (moderately high fat), fasting (trying for 2 days a week), I haven't added in a specific day for indulging though. I see you only have some exercise data, I usually train mornings 4 to 5 days a week.

On a good week I have a workout at the gym on Mon,Tues,Thurs & Fri. But last week I didn't go to gym because of having the flu. I went back to gym on Tuesday this week and was supposed to go today but my body felt a bit sore from Tuesday's workout so I decided to go tomorrow. I lost my 1st 10kg without going to the gym just by adjusting my eating and limiting calories to around 1800 calories daily. On a bad week I try going to gym at least twice in a week. My strength has definitely increased as I am using heavier weights than last year :)

Okay now it makes sense that you are able to attain that loss with both exercise and your eating plan. I suppose its all about adjusting to your bodies needs, I am slowly learning to listen to my body :)

You'd be suprised! I still lose weight/fat without exercise thanks to the fasting keeping me in an overall calorie deficit. It's like my body feeds off its fat. I think the rate of weight/fat loss can be greater with exercise but not being able to exercise is no excuse for anyone as to why they cant lose fat/weight. Weight/Fat Loss is 10% Exercise and 90% Food Consumption(so to speak).

I am also on 5:2 (sometimes 4:3) and this is the lightest I have been in more than 5 years. It is also easier to maintain personally and socially. Personally, because I have less cravings - I was insulin resistant and think the fasting have helped with lower insulin levels. Socially, because I can still feast over weekends and special occasions. No more frustrating questions and judging looks about my diet! I am trying 16:8 for the first time today, partly because I am going to a food market with friends tonight (with a brilliant, scrumptious reputation) and because I want to see if I can do it. Only had an Americano this morning with lots of water. My lunch Americano is sitting on my desk, waiting for me. Gotta love Seattle! Planning to drink Rooibos and Green tea if the hunger pangs start (none yet). Know you do 16:8 as well, BBO. Will let you know if your regime works for me! Thanks for your support and inspiration!
