Fledgist's Journal, 19 September 2011

I did 42 minutes at the gym yesterday. Today, I'm down a bit. I keep noting the flab that remains. It seems remarkably persistent, almost as if it's mocking my efforts. Still, onwards and downwards. The next benchmark beckons, just a few pounds, and a few weeks, away.
188.6 lb Lost so far: 148.4 lb.    Still to go: 20.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Your weight is coming off consistently, though to you it seems slow. Flab - yeah, I hear you, it just likes us too much - lol. Not sure if that will ever go away. Sorry to hear your back and knees are sore but great you are getting some extra exercise. I too thought weight loss would help but unfortunately it hasn't. Thank goodness for NSAID's eh? Hope you have a great day.

Thanks! I am limited in the quantity of NSAIDs I can take. No ibuprofen, only a small amount of low-dose aspirin a couple of times a week for my heart. For pain, I take acetaminophen. Right now, I'm taking a muscle relaxer for my back. I've been prescribed some exercises to help with the back pain. They do seem to help (if I have the time to do them in the mornings).

Sometimes it's just tough to get rid of that flab. I know that at 106 and no matter how much ab work I do I still have that flab. Some can be tighten, some just can't. I'm sure though that you can notice the defintion beneath that. Just keep up the great work you are doing.

Thanks, Cathy. Some of it, I suspect will never go. With only 24 pounds to go before I get to my goal, I very much doubt that I'll be rid of all of the flab. As my BMI drops, the amount of excess fat I'm carrying drops along with it. Some of it, you're right, will not ever go. I'll just have to live with it. I'm not going to try to get my weight down to 140 (which is what I weighed when I was in my early 20s). I'll settle for a bit over eleven stone rather than ten stone even. Most of the definition I'm getting right now seems to be in my calves, back, and shoulders. Not so much on my abs.
