What only 1 pound down? I am certainly suprized because I have been really good and exercising diligently. I guess that is what happens. I am concentrating on the fact that it IS weight LOSS and that my last weight loss marker was really a thrill.
Can it be that my body is adjusting to my lack of calorie intake, thinking that I need to conserve? I'll have to do some research on that.
Anyways, I can't deny that my clothes are loose and that I feel great. I have been on this regimen since the 9th of September and all total lost 12.5 pounds now in a little over 5 weeks. So, that averages 2.5 pounds a week and that is what I can be proud of. (Even though this post hints of Pollyanna, Pie in the Sky -- I DID brood to my husband and fuss and complain about all the vinegared romaine dinners and the single pound. He reminded me that he had a similar stalling and suggested that the scale might be a bit quirky... I know... just to encourage. I trust the scale is fine. Of all the variables of taking on a 'regimen', I think vetting the scale was my first priority. Can't blame the scale.)
172.5 lb Lost so far: 12.5 lb.    Still to go: 27.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

You have done great. Sometimes you will find you lose lbs and some times you lose inches. As long as you are not going up you are doing good. Enjoy the ride and your successes. Congratulations! That is like over 48 sticks of butter stuck to your body gone.

One pound is amazing! Hello, do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat, And I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound! Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one. So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing.) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing. And, I love being around you - your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you. Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!! - Author Unknown

Mitchell is right. Make sure that you measure at least once a month: neck, upper arm, forearm, wrist, waist, hips, thigh, calf, ankle. You will notice you will go through a fwe of these stages, when the scale doesn't move but you lose inches. It's the fat giving way to muscle, and muscle is heavier per volume than fat.

The scale can be disappointing if that is the only measure we use. Also early on in the process the weight seems to leave the body at a more rapid rate than later on in the process. Expecting that there will not be ups and downs can also be discouraging. What is encouraging is that dedication, adjusting diet and exercise and just being consistent in making reaching your goals a priority does eventually cause the scale to show losses, your clothes to fit better and your overall health to improve. So celebrate that 1 lb loss and look forward to the next loss. You are doing really well.
