A couple of weeks ago, everything went to hell. I found out my best friend of 17 years has stage IV colon cancer that has metastasized to her liver. My world sort of turned upside down and the depression hit me. Hard. I haven't been swimming (only three times this month so far), haven't been on the site, and eating just went to hell in a hand-basket. The struggle was real while I picked myself off the floor and dusted myself off. Today, we begin again. I've also received some pretty bad news about my own health. I have all the North American diseases that come with obesity, on top of all my other problems. I am pre-diabetic, high cholesterols and bad lipids, chronic inflammation (high C-reactive protein levels made in the liver), high SED rate, and a vitamin B-12 deficiency. I also have to have surgery to relieve the narrowing disc between my C5-C6 vertebrae, but it won't take place until next year (thank you Canadian Health Care System)- it's free, you get what you pay for. I have osteophytes (bone spurs) on these vertebrae as evidenced by the hump I've grown on my neck. I also appear to have done something to my left knee, I think my ACL. Anyway, I'm not complaining, it's just been difficult taking this all in. I feel like I just put very small drops in the bucket and that something keeps spilling everything I put in. I only have one month and two days of EI while I try to whip myself in shape. Wish me luck.
182.6 lb Lost so far: 2.4 lb.    Still to go: 57.6 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Sorry to hear of so many troubles at one time. Seems as though you are dealing with it well from what you've written here, though. I've found that taking each thing one at a time and not looking at the whole thing, has helped me get through quite well. One day you'll realize you've made it through to the other side and it will have all worked itself out. Come back here anytime you feel you need some support. Good Luck and Blessings, too.

so sorry for so much to take in all at once. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed with "life" I try and remember so much is out of my control, but what I put in my mouth is totally ME! I try and make good, maybe not great, choices. Your friend needs you. YOU need YOU! Continue with a healthy eating plan, move forward, treasure the time you have. AND know that many are sending you well wishes, hugs, our strength, and support.
