Still optimistic that I can get fit and healthy, but with a 6 pound weight gain since February I am getting discouraged. I know my age and change in hormones :-/ has something to do with it -- and the amount and type of food I eat :), but still feeling a bit depressed about the whole thing.

Don't give up....you know what to do and you can do it. I am 68 yrs. young and I was beginning to think that I was too old to lose weight and had almost resigned to the fact that I was going to be heavy all the rest of my days. Then I started reading about people who are older than I losing, people with physical limitations succeeding and realized that if they can do it, so can I. I am determined to get it right this time. I believe the frame of mind and making wise eating choices are the key to losing the weight. I, too, have slipped and fallen...but I am not going to give up. I hope that you will realize that age and hormones are merely age and hormones....they are not death sentences for being healthy and fit. Being optimistic is a plus and glad to read that you are still optimistic about making your goals a reality. Good luck.
