Katsolo's Journal, 26 August 2023

Saturday journal, a few more minutes to reflect, not much more than that. Experiment continues, blob is going down, been maintaining muscle so far (excluding daily fluctuations). VO2 is notching up a hair on the workouts. This is cool because we are only walking, not running, so it’s hard to move that meter. I could with a more formal training program, but that’s not the point of this particular exercise. Wish i could measure that in the pool or on the treadmill where we’re not stopping to sniff or talk or whatever, but it is going up. I have been taking a quick break in the mornings to walk the dogs to the corner park and back for a mental and physical break to the routine, it’s been helpful.

Took some more personal progress pics. Yeah, will never ever share them online, but i can already see a difference. Abdomen is down. Legs are good because i never stopped walking those hills. Booty shorts look better. I’d probably wear the black ones at the gym, but not any of the light colors. Work to do there.

Been “shopping” in my closet, that’s fun. I have some super cute things that got pushed to the side. Gonna start wearing them. Some pieces i never touch anymore. Gone. The formal office stuff? Meh, that’s going away, too. If i get pulled back into an office, I’ll buy new pieces and keep it minimal. After our trip to HQ a few months ago, hardly anyone wears suits anymore unless corporate, so no longer necessary.

Caved and bought a new Roomba yesterday because the dog hair is insane and I needed to rebuild the old one including treads. Got one that is supposed to last 60 days per bag. Ha. If I vacuum with the big machine every day as well. 🤣 This one is named Homer. Hurricane Lili is unafraid and curious. Chance doesn’t care as he was used to the last one.

Numbers. Blob up from yesterday, trending down. Muscle holding overall, water down. Thought i was going to get 90 miles this month, all that rain messed it up. If i can fit in 30 miles in 7 days, I’ll hit it, but i want to swim this weekend. Lots on the list today, need to do some more cleanup from the storm as rain makes things grow.

Finally, my lesson of the day from last night’s walk. Do not ever consume chia seed pudding an hour before a long walk away from your house. I did not embarrass myself, but the possibility was there. Learn from my almost public humiliation.

Weekend rules, enjoy the day!

Hurricane at rest. Never lasts long. Good thing she’s cute.

What we just had in California was a light tropical storm despite all the predictions. Experienced much worse previously, but we were lucky. That said, I have been on the edges of some real hurricanes (Hugo, for one) and that was insane. Unending sideways rain and wind with severe flooding and lots of thunder and lightning along with tornado warnings. These two current dogs do fine with the storms and fireworks. The previous ones, not so much. One hid in the bathtub shaking, the other barked at everything. All different.

Aw, what sweetness! So there is calm after the storm! Great job on your NSV's! I'm like you, living is mostly jeans and t-shirts. Lately sweat pants and tank tops. Working from home is great!!!

Oh that "will I make it home?" feeling, not so good. Glad you made it. The alternative is not pleasant.

She’s adorable!! We were in Newport Beach during the “tropical storm”. While i know it caused damage not so far away it was just barely raining and some bark fell off the palm trees. Feel very fortunate. Glad you made it home the alternative would have been crappy 💩😂

Such a great feeling to be able to do your closet. Good for you and your consistency! I was thinking of a roomba yesterday, coincidentally. Pablo would be scared of it and Oscar would attack it. Just have to stick with the regular vacuum, broom, and mop.
