Katsolo's Journal, 18 February 2023

Interesting, after last night's pizza which is probably more salt than I usually consume in a week, just holding. Blob is actually down, water is low which is funny because I was drinking hot water for warmth last night, more on that in a bit. Tried walking Sadie alone and then sneaking out with the other two for a longer walk. didn't work, she is not a noisy dog, but she did not want us leaving her alone, sweet baby - she barked and whined as we tried to gear up. she also wanted nothing to do with the wagon on a walk - it's all about the smells, and since the focus is on giving her the absolute best quality of life as long as I can, we will continue to adapt and I will just do my alternate workouts. Why include this in my journal? because I think it applies to humans as well. you really have to press forward as long as you can. she's doing really well after nearly dying about a week ago. I say this nursing my back along which is why I was drinking the hot water last night. I do really well all day, but once it gets cold at night - think 50's in the house - the muscles in my mid back seize up and then we spiral into a pain pit until I can lie down with the heating pad which is not a productive use of time. so it's getting better, but we have a ways to go. so last night, it started again, and I was just chilled and I boiled a kettle of water and wasn't into tea or cocoa, so I just started drinking the hot water plain. warmed my core up, pain subsided until I was cold again. lather, rinse, repeat. so after consuming that whole cauliflower veggie pizza, I drank almost 40 oz of water. this morning, water levels are still good but not higher which I didn't expect with all that sodium. I'm not a salt person, but it was just an interesting number to see the next morning. If you ever see completely disjointed thoughts here, it's because I'm trying to type with a giant creature attacking my feet under the table. We're still working on that.

As far as work, embracing the change of new programs and old school tasking, which is comforting. I was beginning to wonder if I'd forgotten how to do certain aspects of my job and I am just fine. It's like riding a bike. Might be a little shaky, but you fall back into the rhythm quickly. Note that this change was at my request. I'll eventually be assigned to another large program and will primarily support that again. I just needed a break from a high stress but boring beast. A couple weeks later, I'm still catching up on all the stuff I just couldn't get to with my primary assignment in crisis every day for over four years and having a separate one or two or three at home can wear on even the strongest of us.

So now I find myself relaxing just a little and trying to figure out what I want to do this next year as far as my own goals. I've got some big ones and some small ones and I want to continue to be able to provide Sadie with the absolute best care that I can for as long as she's happy. She's doing really well again and is finally putting on some weight as we switched up her diet. And yes, I am very aware this won't continue forever, but pushing her to continue her normal routine is helping keep her going at a happy healthier level.

The "monster" chewing on my feet as I type (he denies everything), Shasta with her "prey" this morning, Sadie taking a sunbath behind me. it never slows down. Weekend rules. Enjoy the day.

What do you mean water is down? Does your scale tell you that? I've been drinking warm water too because I've been keeping the house pretty cold. Bobby knows when I put on my walking shoes and gets upset if I sneak out without him. But when I tell him "you stay home and watch the house", he knows he isn't going with me

Love these pics of all three of them!❤️ I tend to drink hot (or warm) water too in winter cos cold water just makes me shiver. Hope you have a good weekend too, Kat, and that your back pain eases!💕
