nosequepongo's Journal, 14 October 2022

I had an appointment yesterday with my psychiatrist. I told her I want to quit smoking but the hunger and cravings are too hard. I also told her I've been feeling miserable for the past two weeks and doing things very harmful like spending a lot of money I don't have. And stopping the workouts and sleeping for the better part of the day. And thankfully my boss was on vacation and didn't notice that I barely did anything. Maybe it's too much information but it's my journal and I like to share stuff.

She tweaked my meds. I can't wait for the time I find the right combo for me. I'm taking way too many pills, for a lot of things, but at least half of them are for my head. They mess up with my hormones horribly and the doctor I see for the healthy weight program tells me they make people gain weight. Don't get me wrong, before the pills I was a total mess and a danger to my daughter and myself, and the pills have helped a lot. So you have to give some things up to get others. The highlight of yesterday's appointment is that the doctor upped one of the meds and said that will help me with the smoking cessation :D

Anyway, enough venting. I have a lot of catching up to do at work. Have a wonderful Friday friends ❤️

I hope the new dosage works better! it's unfortunate how much tweaking is necessary for a good balance, but hopefully you'll find the right one soon!

The fact that you actually care is all that matters. Eventually the meds stabilize and things get easier. You are 100% worthy of joy. ❤

I hope you find your way through all this to a healthier place. I've been there with meds that cause weight gain (diagnosed bipolar II over 20 years ago). It's a challenge that I don't think people who haven't experienced it can really understand. When I was gaining on seroquel, my doctor added metformin (diabetes drug). Didn't lose weight, but it stopped the gain. You are wise to focus on getting the treatment and medication you need to address your most pressing issues even if the side effects are not what you want. I can tell you it gets better 🙏

Thank you writingwyo!! My family doesn't get what this really is like, it's like a taboo still. Only my sister gets it a bit because she got to live with me last year and realized I really was having a bad time and I wasn't imagining it or making it up. I was diagnosed with BPD like four years ago after being diagnosed with depression before. Now my doctor thinks I may have bipolar. But whatever the diagnosis end up being I'm glad I have the tools and resources to get through it. I know a lot of people don't. Thanks a lot for the encouragement ❤️ it means a lot to me.
