Compulsive eaters...let's talk...
Not a good thing to gain....I ate like a banshee yesterday, including Fritos . I continue to read about what I should be doing and again and again I read that "dieting" creates compulsive eaters...this is really discouraging for me, and makes me feel like I will not overcome it. ( I should get a clue, considering I have read heaps of literature about compulsive and emotional eating. I was involved in OA for a period of time also.) I began the dieting cycle at 8 years of age, when I was not really over weight, just going through some rough times at school and thought I could make people like me if I were cuter, thinner, prettier....I haven't ever really stopped. Anyone out there with some supportive talk?

Hello fellow compulsive overeater, you are not alone! I know it is so hard to stop, but the fact that you stopped right now and posted is great! Sometimes any distraction makes a big difference. I don't believe in perfect anymore, screw perfect! And stop thinking about eating right 100% of the time, try 80%! Frankly, I take it day, by day...

I think we get it in our heads that we have to eat perfectly when "dieting". It's not going to happen. You are going to have your ups and downs. That's a part of life and I think it's okay. (I never used to) I'm a compulsive eater, too, but I'm taking it one day at a time. Don't be so hard on yourself. I could write a book from all the diet tips and how-tos that I've read.

Hey i hear where your coming from I too am a compulsive eater. I find myself sometimes eating when I'm not hungry,so i'm currently on the smash diet trying new things when I "think" I might be hungry chewing gum ,drinking water ,and or brushing my teeth so that if i do eat something the taste of the toothpaste in my mouth somewhat takes away the taste of the food so I don't want to finish it. Best of luck to you in your attempts to control yours.

okay wow. Yous soun just like me. As much as the book advises about emotions and eating it's still really hard to kick the habit, especially if you've just gained weight! The best advice that I can give you is to stay busy, now that I'm working, I dont have time to sit and eat anymore :( Good luck!
