I dont know if the scale is lying to me, or if the scale showed more on Wednesday when I first weighed in, but 2kg in 4 days seems a bit steep... I have been following my calorie intake quite closely, and not eating crap like i otherwise would have, but still... i think i will have to give this a few days and see what it really turns out to be (will weigh in again on wednesday and see then)

I know I can move my scale from tile to tile and get a different weight.

Yes, but if you were bloated, most of that will be water weight. Most people lose quite a bit of water the first few days/week. It usually levels off after a week or two.

There are two steps to solve your weight measurement error problem. Step One: Test your scale by stepping on it three times and note the readings. If they are not within 2/10 of a pound of each other you need a new scale. Any pharmacy will have several costing about $50. Be sure to test the new scale to confirm accuracy. Step Two: You need to realize that raw scale weights are not an accurate measure of your real weight because of "retained fluids and solids". To avoid being mislead by raw scale weights requires some math. If you are up to it, let me know and I'll advise.

thanks everyone for your comments & recos! I use the scales at the gym ( i have had an aversion to scales for a long time hence I don't own one... though I should probably invest...) and it could be water weight Suzi... today I did a "test" while I was at the gym and stepped on the scale with all clothes and boots on and it showed as the same weight as my start weight, which would mean (considering then i weighed in with just undergarments on) there has been a slight adjustment, but not the 2kg loss that it looked like on Saturday. Either way, Im not too deterred by these slight fluctuations, I expect them (after all, I am a huge fan of the biggest loser :D ) but I can tell you all that I feel fantastic and its because I know im doing my best, the body will just follow in time.

and Salbers, what is this way you calculate true weight? I would love to know!!

That doesn't make sense Salbers, if you step on the scale and you weigh 150 pounds, then at that moment you weigh 150 pounds, doing a magical calculation isn't going to change that number when you go on an amusement park ride, do pole dance, go to the doctors for a weigh in, or any other number of various things people do where their weight is calculated. Your car seat is still going to feel 150 pounds when you sit, your chair will still feel 150 pounds when you sit, your knees will still propel 150 pounds when you walk. Sodium and water retention exist, that is true. But your weight on a scale (that is accurate and been tested for accuracy) is your weight. What do you remove? bones? those are solid, in theory I could remove my bones from my calculations...it's just a problematic numbers game designed to mess with a person head.

Your weight changes throughout the day. It rarely stays at one number. Just weigh and forget about it, it can become a horrible mind game. Do weekly measurements! That gives me something different to obsess about!
