Well, I'm almost at my highest weight ever. It has really crept up since I quit drinking. Filling a void with something else I guess.
the 188.4 is better than my 193 not too long ago (I hadn't recorded my weight here in a year and a half) so progress I guess.
The low carb thing finally just bored me too much I think.
I wasn't motivated to eat breakfast because i was tired of eggs and feeling too worn out to be inventive. So I would not eat enough during the day and then binge on junk at night.
My relationship with food is an abusive one - similar to the way I drank. So I'm trying a different approach. A few months ago I signed up for WW. Unfortunately it didn't do much to change my relationship with food - and the 0 point foods were too easy to overeat on.
I decided to try Noom and so far I really like it. The lessons are irritating for some, but I actually like them. I listen to them and read them and being familiar with cognitive behaviour therapy I feel they are right to approach it that way.
I also like how it's not just points - it's calories and the low carb alone wasn't working anymore without reducing the calories a lot.
So new plan. I'm low carbing on Noom. Not keto. just low carb.
I'm allowing myself 65g of carbs per day and this allows me to enjoy some fruits (hadnt had fruit in years), some whole oat oatmeal in the AM with blueberries, and a few other things I wouldnt allow myself to eat (even though Id binge on cookies at night - senseless I know)
I used CarbManager to set up a new macro/calorie guide that fits right in with Noom and that helps me to see a good breakdown of what I'm eating.
I had already purchased premium of CM, which is why I use it, I really like how it can be personalized.
Anyhow for the first time I find myself able to manage my portions.
Rather than keto, intermittent fasting, and all that I'm having 3 meals each day,
Breakfast - 25 carbs
Lunch - 15 carbs
Dinner - 15 carbs
10 carbs left for some snacks. (may or may not be combined into a meal)
Allowing myself 1200 calories, as I'm very sedentary, but as that picks up I'll up the calories.
This morning, my oatmeal with tbsp of cream and scattered blueberries was such a fresh happy change from my keto breakfasts of so many years. I'm glad that I'm finding a way to actually moderate portions, allowing me to eat a little bit of all the different things :D

This is a good outlook! I dont think keto is great long term and its cool you changed it up and are going back at it. I love to be creative so keto dieting is more like a challenge of ingredients vrs mood. Oat Groats are a great low carb grain too, sauteed in butter it works as low carb rice substitute. good to see you back at it and enjoying it.

1200 calories seems a reasonable starting target in view of your history and lifestyle. As you say, you can always adjust as you go along! We all have to start somewhere. You’ll find lots of positive support here in the FS family. We are cheering for you!

Hi, I have been a keto follower for at least a decade and found myself in the exact same way. Decided to join noom last month and it is a game changer for sure. I too am enjoying foods I considered off limits for so long. This is a plan we can stick with, you’ve got this!

@Tazzy, ive only just started with an actual calorie baseline. Previously I would be way over or way under, depending on how well I was moderating. Thanks everyone for the support. I really feel different about things this time. I'm excited :)

@ValleyGirl, do you like the Vega? I dont think Ive tried it. I usually use the Vegessentials and add a bit of almond milk, peanut butter and instant coffee.
