Katsolo's Journal, 20 February 2021

Actually thrilled with this, swam yesterday, ate my pizza and then did a treadmill session later because I felt like it. Which is kind of crazy, but I just wanted that burst of energy out of me.

Swim was in line with where I've been lately, so have definitely hit a new performance plateau which is good. Time to make it a little harder. 841 strokes, 10.7METs, average heart rate 137 with 5 min in cardio, 17 in fat burn and 9 in warm up. I didn't change the speed at all from the last time, so it is time to turn it up at least one notch. Also why I had the energy to hit the treadmill later, I suspect. I wasn't tired. And after that pizza.

Selected shorter treadmill workout since it was about 8:30, so I only did 30 minutes. I am really liking the Fitness+ classes. I do the cool downs, too. If you're on the fence, do the free trial. They do a really good job making it feel as much like a real class as you're going to get in pandemic and the monthly price is about what you'd pay for a single class in person. Work pays for half of mine, so even better.

So why am I not upset with the numbers below? Because look where the gains are. Blob is notching downward, muscle is up to almost 93 and I'm a little sore in my back and shoulders today. All signs of a pretty decent day for exercise and my performance numbers are holding in the water and improving on the treadmill. It doesn't all have to go downhill after 30 even though I used to be pretty sure it was the end of the world.

Going to keep on with the office/gym project today. I have a new idea on what to do with the excess furniture and life goes on. Feeling pretty good about the day and life. Probably also has something to do with longer days and more sunlight even if it is still "brisk". I considered turning down the temp in the pool last night, but then I knew that if I did that, it would be far less likely that I'd get back in until we started hitting the mid 60's in the daytime.

Last pic is something I want to do in my yard. We'll see if I have the space and the inclination to carry through. I have a big old concrete slab that's deteriorating with no hope of getting it removed anytime soon. I may edge out the area and cover with granite for a safe fire pit area. And y'all know my love of cinder blocks. Or at least hauling them around the yard from project to project.

Awesome! How do you get the fat burning minutes and such in your activity app? I’m using a Apple Watch series 4. Guessing you have a different device maybe. 🤔

It’s an app called Zones. One of the very few i paid for. $5 once. There is a free version to try. I love it. Lots of other ways to extrapolate data and great visuals.
