GlennM's Journal, 30 December 2010

Today my friend Shawn took me to the store, he was playing some dreary country music from today, then I asked him to change it and he put on some dreadful country music and then changed it to Patsy Cline, which was a big improvement. So much of today's music completely sucks - no good rock music coming out these days... maybe three songs from this past year that I liked... my dieting is going great today, under 800 calories and will get to maybe 1300 - 1400 and at that rate I will start showing a loss soon enough. Tomorrow a long walk is in the picture most likely...
Vocabulary word for Thursday: cynosure - noun - a person or thing that is the center of attention or admiration; also a guiding star. ---------Origin from 16th Century denoting the constellation Ursa Minor, or the pole star that it contains. Of French, Latin and Greek beginnings to word...

Have you ever tried Pandora for music? Type in a song you used to like and you should get all kinds of good stuff. It takes time for Pandora to get to know your style so make sure to click thumbs up or thumbs down often. Eventually every song that plays you'll love. I have a blackberry w/ the Pandora app and use it when I go to the gym instead of an ipod

I do like Pandora - but I have almost 2000 CDs, any Greatest Hits from the '80s and '90s you can think of. I am listening to Patsy Cline now, usually I listen to Classic Rock music. I was listening to radio stations out of my area on the Internet until they started getting corrupted so I am done with that nonsense. Years ago I knew every song in the Top 40, now I'm lucky to know five since it's basically the Rap Top 40 almost, or should be renamed that...

I have been having problems with my computer lately. For example, I was listening to radio stations, which soon became ceaseless pop ups. Then I played a game today, it did the same thing. It seems like every site I go on comes back and pops up. I have Norton Security. What should I do? Should I try to reach Norton to tell them this? I have had to do endless system restores, which I am sick of doing, then it only restored to the time of NOW until I figured how to navigate through that mess. I am totally sick of not being able to go where I want, it seems only here and my documents are the only places I can go. I'm ready to go to the library and play games there occasionally, I'm very good at that Bejeweled game, only after a few times. Does everyone else have this GARBAGE going on?

I talked with my friend Shawn and he will set up my printer after I work tonight hopefully. I guess certain sites are just more prone to having problems like game sites and music station sites... I plan to go for a walk today...

Glen sorry to hear about your computer problems and hope they iron themselves out. Music is for Mood...what kind of mood I am in dictates what I listen too. Since I have a 21 year old I am open to some of the newer music coming out...As a matter of fact my journal is quite long today but I am in the mood to post a song from Mary's generation that I truly love and if you have a moment listen to the words as it goes along very well with your vocabulary word today:) TOWANDA!!!!

Thanks Lisa - I had an appointment and walked two miles to the store (at least), the weather is near 50* so it is like March, a reprieve from the cold and it seems springlike out. I am open to the new music too, I do listen to Pink (she's like the only rock star selling albums), but most of the rap I don't like. Blondie started it I think, and that was enough and it will go on forever probably it is no wonder country is the most popular genre in music, when I was young I believe it was Top 40 at one point in time... I will try to listen tomorrow and may not have time to post even today...
