Egull1's Journal, 06 September 2020

This week's calorie increase to 1715 cals/day went very well. Still maintaining between that 112-114 spot, which is optimal. Moving average has me at 113.3, which is smack down the middle of the range I'm working to maintain - so this girl is happy.

We're having an Indian summer here so I've still been able to get my pool time in - so, where I land after the pool closes will be more consistent with where my weight range lands as we head into fall/winter.

I also did well increasing the first interval of resistance on the recumbent bike to level 18. I'm just letting these legs feel it out right now so I'm not going ham. They have to be given some time to "map out" the pressure before I see just how well they adapt to that kind of resistance.

Honestly, it takes me up to 6 months before I adjust to an increased level on the bike - but I do it slowly because I'm uber careful about not over taxing the muscles in these legs. Without sensation, it's often hard to know if I've pushed the muscles too hard until it's too late - so I hedge on the side of safety.

And, well it's just not pretty when MS'ers have full blown muscle fatigue. We'll just say muscles start jumping and collapse is inevitable.

Other than that - not too much to report. Below is a pic of me and my Bengal/tabby mix, Billy Louis Flynn III - attempting to steal my halo top and no pudge brownie dessert...hehehe

Have a wonderful Holiday weekend, everyone. Love & blessings - I'll touch base next weekend.

Glad you know who's in charge in that pic, my feline overlords like to remind me in the same way.

Oh Kat - No truer words. I am completely owned. I'm Billy's pet as far as he's concerned in addition to his makeshift jungle gym, scratching post, and kitty bed...LOL.

Billy Louis Flynn III is my kind of cat. I have two full Bengal cats whom I have likely posted on FS at some time. They are wonderful companions and my friends! Be well, and keep on your quest for health.

LOL - Chris it is absolutely a ridiculous name. But, I wasn't sure how to work it all out. His name at Pet Smart was Louie. We had seen an orange kitten we really liked, but it fell through, but his name was Billy Flynn. And, apparently Billy Flynn is actually the name of a famous Soap Actor on Days of Our lives, which is suiting since my Billy Flynn is a bit of a drama queen (most Bengals are, lol). So, I threw all of that in a hat and out of the wash came Billy Louis Flynn III...but, his nickname is "NO!" followed by "get out of there, right now!!" And, yes when that pool closes I will definitely be monitoring closely. I do have considerable activity in fall/winter months, but we both know 3 mile/week swims burn a lot of cals. If I have to re-adjust back to the 1686 range, I def leave that as an option. The other thing to note is that as I work up to all 4 intervals at level 18 on the recumbent bike - there won't be anymore 600 cal burns. At that level - it's like riding a bike up a vertical hill. If I can burn 475 cals/session it will be pretty damn good. So, we're for sure taking a wait and see approach with cal increases and definite room to re-adjust if needed.

I've always given my pets people names (Bruce, Charlie, etc.), and they're usually named after musicians (Springsteen, Parker, etc.). Using me as a jungle gym has caused claw scarring, so as funny as it seems, I have to discourage the behavior in your picture. I always lose against the claws.

JustBananas-although I do have my fair share of Billy scratches from play. He's actually very adept at withdrawing his claws when he jumps. Bengals are an exotic mix of Asian Leopard & Tabby and they are very very skilled at jumping extremely high without the use of their claws. Billy is no exception and often jumps into my arms straight from the ground without a single claw mark. However, having an exotic mix is also the reason why we have to replace the drop ceiling tiles in the club room, chain the garbage can to the wall, and replace the floor drain he pulled out in the storage area (Bengals love water). I always tell him, he's the reason why I burn so many calories - LOL.
