Picked up a new scale. It's the Omron full body scanning thingy that tells you your weight, body fat percentage, BMI, skeletal muscle percentage, resting metabolism, visceral fat level and body age.

My weight is consistent provided I don't hold the body fat measuring attachment while I'm weighing myself. I was aware of my BMI (5 more pounds until I move from "obese" to "overweight"). The rest of the results were a bit shocking. Body fat percentage is 31.6 (the personal trainer using calipers calculated 26%), visceral fat level is 14 which is very high...but then again, I know I have a ways to go. The most shocking result though was my "body age". The scale calculated my body age as being 62 years old. That's not a good thing.

Perhaps the most encouraging is that my resting metabolic rate is 1931 calories. It's reassuring in that I've found the sweet spot for weight loss for me is about 1300 calories per day and my whole goal during this process is to train myself to eat about 2000 calories per day - irrespective of any exercise I do.

Despite feeling absolutely terrific, and looking the best I've looked in years, it's a hard realization that I still have a lot more work to do.
