SaintViper's Journal, 19 October 2010

I am now officially overweight. BMI has dropped below 30 which means I am no longer obese. I am also only a couple of pounds from half way to my goal weight, and also not too far from dropping below 200 which will be a big accomplishment. Plenty of milestones coming up to keep me motivated.
208.8 lb Lost so far: 33.2 lb.    Still to go: 43.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Protein was low the past couple of days. Will need to keep an eye on that.

Thanks guys. It feels really good to be this far along. I feel really motivated to keep going and reach my goal. I ended up doing a 25 mile ride by myself on Saturday. Hit 107 for the week which was great. We got a trail-a-bike for the kids in spring which we thought was a great idea, but they refuse to ride together in the Burley now. My wife can do 20 miles by herself but not while pulling one kid in the trailer while I tow the other. So, they stayed home and played in the leaves while I was out riding. How did your double century go?

Was awesome. I split it up with some friends (one just had a baby in June and is getting back to riding and the other is just plain outta shape but generally a strong rider). We even took the infant along and just played relay ride and tie. It was great. Nice day though very cool. Ended up still riding a sub 12.5 hour day even with breast feeding/changing, fiddling around etc going on. and then there was the Halloween party/dancing afterwards!!! I think I burned more calories there than during the 83 fast miles I put in for the day, but it was fun. I LOVED the part where I got to finish the ride in the dark with my lights in the freezing cold. I was FLYING!! 25-30 mph across the desert with NO WIND and the barn in my sights. It was great. Once the rest of the riders heard about our ride and tie method they thought we were pretty darned smart! There is talk of making it a new race category in some of the events. LOL!!!

I'm not quite sure I follow what you did there. Was it a relay?

yeah, we treated it as a relay. Though at times we had two riders on the ground at the same time. Launch a person, leapfrog them in the vehicle get ahead a certain distance, then launch the next person. Then when the first person caught the vehicle, we'd race ahead, leapfrog rider #2 and launch rider #3. Lather, rinse, repeat. It worked really great with my brother (two riders, one vehicle) but since we had a baby with us, someone always had to stay with the vehicle so it was a little less effecient...but it was all just for fun anyway so it was cool. And with 14,000 feet of elevation gain I knew I couldn't push those ladies too much anyhow.
