very discouraged to have only lost 2.5 lbs in the first week of my diet. Usually I lose faster at first. I have not cheated. I drink all my water. I've exercised for the first time in a long while. I'm trying not to be depressed -- at least not depressed enough to give up so early in the game. Lord, help me.
193.0 lb Lost so far: 2.0 lb.    Still to go: 43.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

Thanks Mom, and nice to meet you. Yes I have done this to my poor body before. About 5 yrs ago I lost 60 lbs on LAWL and now have put it ALL back on. Then taken off 10 or 15 here and there, and put it ALL back on. What a bonehead. No I won't give up. Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully soon I will figure this site out and learn how to talk to my fellow LAWL-ers.

You need to realistic about weight loss. If you saw what 2.5 pounds of fat actually looked like (it's alot). That is a great loss for the first week. Your body constantly changes and you might not be retaining as much water as other times you have dieted. Also, starting an exercise regime, can make the scale go up a little (muscles get little tears in them and use water to repair themselves). It is temporary and will go away. You will get into smaller sizes quicker with exercise.Losing weight is a journey. There will be times you do everything right and stay the same or even gain. Our bodies are made up of 60% water and can be effected by many things (stress, hormones, sodium in food, exercise, etc.) Every pound or half a pound will bring you closer to your goal. It didn't all hop on your body overnight, and it won't all hop off (although that would be great, wouldn't it?). You are off to great start.
