Upping my carbs has helped relieve my restless legs, but it’s showing on the scale 😐 I never imagined that strict keto would have such an ill effect on my legs, it was working so well otherwise. I will be researching what I’ve seen referred to as dirty keto. Perhaps upping only the good carbs. 🤔 Bread and small servings of rice and foods with added sugar is definitely not working for me.
Tonight I will enjoy carnitas and margaritas while I do my research 🙃😄

Dirty keto means you stay under 20 g of net carbs, do not track calories and eat processed foods. I found this one to be the worst for me when I was trying to lose weight. The best keto for me is one with lots of green leafy veggies and fresh meats. Currently I’m doing whole30, I eat sweet potatoes for carbs + protein + veggies and I feel really good on it. Maybe try that for your restless legs?

Moopie- thank you! I definitely do not want to eat processed foods now that I’ve weaned my body from them. I am going to study up on the whole30. I surely miss a few of the foods you mention. Thank you so much!

Dlewis, it’s a short term diet 30 days to figure out how your body responds to certain foods. There was one other member doing this on fs. We discovered we both got glowing skin about 2 weeks in. 💞💞💞 hope you find the perfect woe for you❣️

I don’t think your restless leg syndrome it’s because of non carb consumption. I had it too, & the main reasons as to why this happen it’s because of lacking of iron, vitamin D, or neurological problems. I solved my issue taking kratom, the feeling completely disappear within 20 min. I haven’t had it in a while now. Also CBD, or marijuana.

Lekzgore- my RSL is neurological and when I’m in ketosis it’s much worse. My Dr says that ketogenic diet can be a contributor. I take requip and gabapentin to help me through it. I stopped strict keto and my symptoms have lessened, I’m just disappointed that I’ve gained back four pounds. I’ll keep trying! I sure hope you can cope well with your RLS, it’s sure makes life miserable. I’m going to try the whole30 way of eating and see how that goes. 🤞🏻😁

Dlewis, idk if you’re tracking calories or not but the initial uptick in weight when you reintroduce carbs is water 💦 if you’re eating the same number of calories. It’ll even out over time. When I switched from mindful keto/lchf to whole30 i experienced it too. I went up 2 lbs. it’s slowly going back down after 2 weeks.

if you are having leg issues then you are most likely having circulatory problems as well. the high fat that one eats in the keto diet often times packs up the parties with fat and cholesterol. a blood test would confirm your cholesterol levels which sounds high if leg issues are occurring. I did keto many years back and it was unhealthy for me. yes I lost a lot of weight but overall I had dirty blood with too high fat and cholesterol which also placed a huge burden on my organs. would recommend you look into vegan lifestyle and I can almost guarantee that your circulatory (leg) issues will clear up in a few weeks. just make sure you cut back or cut out all oils and you should get well quickly. a book you might want to read is "China study" by Campbell, 80-10-10 by Douglas Graham, or even look into the work by doctor Micheal Greger his website and book "how not to die". best of luck which ever way you go.

I see! I would honestly recommend you to try kratom, is 100% natural alternative, red strain. I tried medication as well & I was feeling like a Zombie, like if it wasn’t me. Much love to you.

What meds are you on and which ones do you not want to be on if that is the case?

Kartom is a stimulant and has been proven to help people get off addictive drugs. It has an unusual effect on the brain and some talk about enhanced dreams. I took it once and felt different not goo nor bad. In your case I do not see how kartom will help your legs if it is related to poor circulation. I am certain it is a diet that is to high in fat and cholesterol which is causing you discomfort. If you cut out all animal products (which have hormones, cholesterol, and questionable bad fats along with too many antibiotics) your body should heal. You are designed to eat fats (otherwise known as lipids) but in a limited amount (smaller the. What many believe). I am sure you are becoming aware that you have a limit on the amount of fat you can eat and that it is not limitless. Once you come to grips with this then you will realize that the fat you can not store has to be expelled and is taxing on your body. Oftentimes this builds up on your blood walls. This is my opinion and it makes sense and one day it will resonate in you and you will know it is true..

Its great that you're back to losing weight after serious illness! I've not used keto. Maybe using low fat protein sources like fat free yogurt and egg whites and some carbs like fruit would satisfy your hunger and help you keep your weight down. I find I am satisfied for hours by eating plain yogurt and berries.

Red- the smoothie sounds good! I sure enjoy yogurt, berries would be a great addition! Thank you!
